Dehradun, 24 Dec: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today accused the Congress of insulting the Scheduled Caste community and showing disrespect to the soul of a deceased daughter of the state. Speaking to the media persons at the BJP State Headquarters here, today, BJP State President and Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt alleged that the opposition is indulging in conspiratorial and unethical politics on the basis of unverified allegations made by questionable individuals.
Bhatt alleged that the Congress is deliberately attempting to defame BJP leaders through a planned conspiracy based on unsubstantiated claims. He also asserted that while former Chief Minister Harish Rawat would be welcomed if he visited the BJP headquarters, he should first remove objectionable content from his party’s social media platforms. Bhatt stated that it is ironic that the same Congress which earlier termed AI manipulation in audio and video clips as unacceptable was now using the images created by unknown persons using artificial intelligence.
Responding to media queries at the party headquarters regarding the so-called audio episode, Bhatt expressed strong resentment and stated that the Congress is indulging in immoral political practices. He directly accused the Congress state president and other senior leaders of playing shameful politics under the cover of audio and video clips linked to a woman with questionable social activities. He alleged that by taking shelter behind unverified and AI-generated viral audio clips, the Congress is not only insulting a highly respected leader belonging to the Scheduled Caste community but also humiliating the entire Scheduled Caste society. According to him, with the sole intention of drawing negative political mileage, the Congress is indulging in character assassination of the BJP’s state in-charge, who is also regarded as a major well-wisher of the Scheduled Caste community. He claimed that there is widespread anger among the people of the state and BJP workers over the issue and that protests are being held.
Bhatt further alleged that the Congress, ever since the tragic death of Ankita, a daughter of Uttarakhand, had not refrained from making indecent and anarchic statements. He accused the Opposition Party of repeatedly levelling false allegations and insulting the soul of the deceased daughter and subjecting her family members to mental harassment. He said that from the very day of the incident, Congress leaders have followed a vulture-like politics by continuously making false, baseless, insensitive and reprehensible allegations. He pointed out that the Congress has, at different times, linked as many as four different names with the tragic incident, despite the court having already awarded life imprisonment to the guilty persons. Bhatt alleged that once again, on the basis of defamatory social media allegations, the Congress is insulting the soul of the deceased daughter and hurting the sentiments of her family. He remarked that an issue-less, ideology-less and value-less Congress had now stooped to such levels.
Taking a dig at Harish Rawat over his announcement to visit the BJP headquarters, Bhatt said that if he came with a pure conscience, he would be welcomed. However, he added that if Rawat intended to indulge in cheap politics based on false allegations, he would receive no response. He said that any promise made under the law would be answered strictly through legal means. Referring to the viral AI video, Bhatt reiterated that the party had already made it clear that the video was not created by the BJP. He said that several such videos are circulating on social media and that their tone matched what he described as the appeasement politics of Harish Rawat. Even so, if there were objections, Bhatt said the Congress should also introspect and examine its own social media platforms, where manipulated and objectionable audio and video clips relating to him and the BJP continued to remain on official Congress social media sites. He alleged that despite repeated objections and challenges raised by the BJP regarding these clips, the Congress has failed to take them down.
