Heartfelt celebration of Art, Culture, and Service on the 69th Birth Anniversary of Late Dr Mukti Bhatnagar

Dehradun, 17 Jan: On the occasion of the 69th birth anniversary of the Late Dr Mukti Bhatnagar, a dignified memorial, tribute, and cultural programme was organized at the Dr Mukti Bhatnagar Subharti School of Fine Arts and Fashion Design, Ras Bihari Bose Subharti University in Dehradun (under the aegis of the MTV Buddhist Religious and Charitable Trust). The event witnessed the participation of eminent personalities, scholars, artists, and a large number of students associated with education, artculture, and social service.
The welcome address was delivered by the Head of the Department, Santosh Kumar. This was followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, floral tributes and Saraswati Vandana. A Ganesh Vandana presented in the Kathak style infused the entire atmosphere with spiritual and cultural energy.
Highlighting the role, achievements, and importance of fine arts education, Dean Dr Rita Tiwari stated that the institution considers art not merely an academic subject, but a powerful medium of social consciousness. Dr Krishna Murthy, in his thoughtful and emotional address, spoke about the life of the Late Dr Mukti Bhatnagar, her disciplined personality, dedication to education, devotion to art, and deep social commitment. He described her as a sensitive visionary and guiding force for society.
On this occasion, the IT Department presented a special video tribute dedicated to Dr Mukti Bhatnagar, which deeply moved the audience. This was followed by a Ram Bhajan performed by Shahrukh, filling the gathering with devotion and emotion.
The Chief Guest, Ram Krishna Goyal, Uttarakhand Ratna Awardee and Senior Master Photographer, paid homage to Mukti Bhatnagar and said that her life was a unique confluence of art, compassion, and service. He emphasized that such personalities not only guide society but also provide values and vision to future generations.
In his address, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof Dr Himanshu Aeran, described Late Dr Mukti Bhatnagar as a powerful symbol of knowledge, sensitivity, and human values. With deep emotion, he stated that the true purpose of education is to make human beings better individuals, and that her entire life was a living embodiment of this philosophy.
The Trust’s President, Dr Atul Krishna, in his inspiring address, said that the life of Dr Mukti Bhatnagar was a living example of service, sacrifice, social awareness, and women empowerment. She dedicated her entire life to education, art, and the upliftment of marginalized sections of society. He added that the Trust continues to actively work in the fields of social harmony and humanitarian service by translating her ideals into practice.
