Gadarpur (US Nagar), 22 Jan: Udham Singh Nagar Police have registered a criminal case against the brother, cousin and nephew of Arvind Pandey, a former Cabinet Minister and a sitting Bharatiya Janata Party MLA from Gadarpur, in connection with alleged land grabbing, criminal intimidation and conspiracy. The case was registered at the Bazpur police station on the basis of a written complaint submitted by Sanjay Kumar Bansal.
According to the complaint, Sanjay Kumar Bansal is the owner of land situated in Mundia Pistaur village under Khasra number 417. Bansal in his complaint has stated that he had entrusted a portion of this land, marked as 417/6, to Jai Prakash Tiwari for maintenance and operational purposes under a mutual understanding. Bansal alleged that on 21 July, 2025, he was summoned by the local authority in connection with the property and was served a notice regarding fresh construction being raised on the land. The notice reportedly termed the construction illegal and directed him either to immediately stop the work or to demolish the unauthorised structures himself.
Bansal further alleged that when he reached the site to look into the matter, Devanand Pandey, Amar Pandey and several associates were already present there and began arguing with him. During the altercation, the accused allegedly questioned Bansal’s ownership and authority over the land, claimed it as their own and threatened him with dire consequences. They allegedly told him that they would carry out construction as per their own will and warned him never to visit the land again, threatening to kill him if he did so. The complainant further stated that Devanand Pandey invoked his political influence during the confrontation by stating that Arvind Pandey, the BJP MLA, was his brother. He allegedly hurled certain documents towards Bansal, asked him to read the stamp papers and asserted that the land belonged to the Pandey family, warning him not to demolish any construction.
In his complaint to the police, Bansal alleged that after examining the documents, he found that Jai Prakash Tiwari, Devanand Pandey, Mohan Pandey and Kishan Pandey had allegedly hatched a conspiracy and prepared a forged rent agreement. He claimed that the document was fabricated as part of a deliberate attempt to illegally grab his land. Bansal further alleged that despite making repeated efforts to communicate with the accused persons to reclaim his property, he was continuously threatened and intimidated by Arvind Pandey and his brothers.
Bansal further claimed in his complaint that he is a hypertension patient and expressed apprehension about his personal safety. He stated that the accused persons should be held fully responsible in case any harm is caused to his life or property in the future. Acting on the complaint, the police have registered a case against Devanand Pandey, the MLA’s brother, Mohan Pandey, his cousin, Ramanand Pandey, his nephew, and Jai Prakash Tiwari and have initiated further investigation into the matter.
