Dehradun, 24 Jan: The Information Department is preparing an elaborate and visually engaging tableau on the theme “Silver Jubilee and Winter Religious Pilgrimage and Tourism” for the state-level Republic Day celebrations to be held at the Parade Ground here on 26 January. The tableau is designed to present a comprehensive portrayal of Uttarakhand’s 25-year developmental journey alongside its growing religious pilgrimage and tourism initiatives, with construction work currently underway at a rapid pace at the venue.
Director General of the Information Department, Banshidhar Tiwari shared that in accordance with the vision of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the tableau is being prepared under the supervision of Joint Director and Nodal Officer KS Chauhan. He said the front portion of the tableau will depict the Ganga Temple at Mukhba, the winter abode of Goddess Ganga, while the front cabin will showcase the completion of 25 glorious years of Uttarakhand’s formation, reflecting the state’s developmental milestones, cultural heritage and sustained progress over the years.
Tiwari added that the trailer section of the tableau will project Uttarakhand as a leading state in the field of Ayurveda, highlighting traditional systems of medicine based on medicinal plants and herbs. This will be followed by a depiction of the Homestay Scheme of the state, illustrating how tourists from across the country and abroad are increasingly opting to stay with local families, thereby promoting tourism, generating local employment and encouraging sustainable development. The tableau will then feature the Yamuna Temple at Kharsali, the winter seat of Goddess Yamuna, known for its rich mythological associations, spiritual importance and tranquil Himalayan setting.
The concluding segment of the tableau will use rising pillars to symbolise Uttarakhand’s year-on-year progress and sustainable growth. The rear portion will highlight newly enacted laws in the state, reflecting the government’s commitment to good governance and strengthening law and order. The backdrop of the tableau will be embellished with traditional Aipan art, blending Uttarakhand’s folk artistic heritage with a contemporary visual narrative.
The tableau prepared by the Information Department is expected to be a major attraction during the state-level Republic Day function. Notably, the department has been presenting tableaus at the Parade Ground for the past fifteen years and secured the first prize consecutively in 2024 and 2025.
