Dehradun, 30 Jan: BJP state spokesperson and Dharampur MLA Vinod Chamoli today dismissed the three month long campaign announced by the Congress as a mere pretext and political theatrics. On a statement issued today, Chamoli alleged that it is an attempt to divert attention from growing factionalism and the fear of organisational disintegration within the party. Reacting to the recent statements issued by the Congress leaders in tis respect, Chamoli said the reality is that the Congress party is deeply troubled by internal infighting and apprehensive about further fragmentation and that is the reason why it has resorted to announcing a state-wide campaign to shift focus from its internal turmoil.
Chamoli claimed that by launching such campaigns shortly before elections, the Congress will also be confronted with the ground reality of its actual public support base. He remarked that the claims made by the Congress on various issues would stand exposed once it engages directly with the people. Referring to allegations levelled by the Congress on illegal mining, he said the state has in fact been receiving awards for improved management and economic performance in the mining sector. He added that around 30,000 youth have been provided government jobs so far, while lakhs of people are benefitting from self-employment initiatives across Uttarakhand.
Speaking on law & order situation in the state, Chamoli said that despite maintaining a strong law & order situation, the Congress continues to make allegations, though it itself came under the scanner following the recent Rudrapur incident. The BJP MLA reminded that several schemes are being implemented for women empowerment, including reservation and subsidies for self-employment, the results of which are evident in initiatives such as the Lakhpati Didi programme and the receipt of several national-level awards by women from the state.
Chamoli further claimed that the opposition is rattled by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s zero-tolerance policy against corruption. He said that the CM is personally reaching out to the public through initiatives such as Janata Ke Dwar, Janata Ki Sunwai, which he is leading from the front. He claimed that hearings and grievance redressal have been conducted in 384 camps so far, benefiting nearly four lakh people, while more than 300 officials have been sent to jail in cases related to bribery and corruption.
Taking a dig at the Congress leadership model, Chamoli described the party’s so-called quadrilateral leadership as laughable and inadequate to take on the BJP. He said this was not a new experiment and has repeatedly failed to deliver results. He added that the Congress high command is better placed to understand how factionalism can be addressed, but emphasised that mere propaganda cannot substitute for sustained public engagement and service. Chamoli pointed out that the BJP’s booth-level organisational network remains unmatched and asserted that the public is well aware of the Congress’s political manoeuvres and continues to place its faith in the BJP.
