Dehradun, 1 Oct: The Dehradun International Film Festival, held from 27 to 30 September, brought together notable personalities from the film industry, including Adil Hussain, Ila Arun, Zakir Hussain, Piyush Mishra, Sharib Hashmi, Rajesh Sharma, Pankaj Berry, KK Raina, Manoj Joshi, and Deepak Kejriwal. Director Kamal Chandra, known for his film, ‘Humaare Barah’, also participated in a panel discussion at the event.
Among the films screened were ‘Sam Bahadur’, aimed at deaf and dumb audiences, and ‘Ajmer 92’, among others. The festival provided a platform for filmmakers and actors to discuss their craft and connect with one another.

During the event, Adil Hussain shared his experiences, stating, “The biggest challenge for me is that Hindi is not my native language. While I can speak Hindi, my fluency sometimes falters. Nevertheless, I embrace the roles I’m offered in Hindi films and put in the same effort as I do for films in French and English. The teachings of my mentors have always stayed with me, and I am grateful for their guidance. It’s also heartening to see some of my former classmates here today. It feels like a reunion.”

Piyush Mishra reflected on the nature of acting, saying, “When I talk about acting, I see it as something akin to a spiritual fast, a sacred vow. Only those who truly commit to it understand that it’s not about glitz and glamour. It’s about asking yourself: ‘Do I possess the talent? Am I capable of this?’ If the answer comes from within, it’s a definite yes. However, success doesn’t come overnight; it requires time and persistent effort. True achievement stems from deep reflection and dedication to the craft.”
Ila Arun expressed her appreciation for the festival coinciding with International Music Day. “I would like to express my heartfelt thanks. This international film festival is especially meaningful today. Events like this serve as a wonderful platform for us to connect, collaborate, and foster unity and creativity across the globe,” she stated.
The Dehradun International Film Festival not only showcased diverse films but also served as a hub for creativity and collaboration, emphasising the importance of art in bringing people together.
