Advanced STEM Lab inaugurated at PNSM Girls Inter College

Dehradun, 14 May: With the support of SPARK Technologies, SPECS and ACIC Uttaranchal University Foundation, an advanced STEM Lab has been established at Phoolchand Nari Shilp Mandir Girls Inter College.

The inaugural ceremony witnessed the presence of several eminent personalities associated with education, science, and innovation.

The STEM Lab was jointly inaugurated by Ankita Joshi, Vice Chancellor Prof Dharam Buddhi, President of the Management Committee Dr Devender Bhasin, Management Committee Member Avnish Oberoi, and President of SPECS, Dr Brij Mohan Sharma.

Member of SPARK Technologies Dr Shailender Pokhriyal said that STEM Labs are the foundation of innovation and provide an effective platform for learning science in a playful and engaging manner. He added that Uttaranchal University has always remained at the forefront of such creative and student-centric initiatives.

Vice President Ankita Joshi stated, “Necessity is the mother of invention, and observation is the first step toward innovation. STEM Labs create an environment that nurtures creativity and makes science learning more meaningful and enjoyable for students.”

On this occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof Dharam Buddhi emphasised that science education should be practical and enjoyable so that students can learn through experiments and develop scientific thinking.

President of the Management Committee Dr Devender Bhasin highlighted the importance of science education in students’ lives and said that STEM education would empower students to face future challenges confidently.

President of SPECS Dr Brij Mohan Sharma stated that a STEM Lab is the key to thinking, observation, hands-on activities, learning, and understanding science in a playful manner. He added that science is not merely a subject but a powerful medium that offers immense opportunities to improve the quality of life. STEM education effectively develops scientific temperament, innovation, and self-confidence among students.

During the programme, meritorious students who excelled in the 2026 Board Examinations were felicitated by the school. In the Intermediate category, Namra, Pallavi Sharma, Jyoti Gautam, Zeenat, and Adeeba Aqeel were honoured, while Munanjja was recognised for outstanding performance in the High School category.

The school also presented the “Vigyan Sancharak Samman” to individuals and organisations for their valuable contributions in the field of science and innovation. The awardees included Dr Rajesh Singh, Dr Anita Gehlot, Spark Technologies, Divya Bansal, Smart Circuits Innovation, Seltos Innovation Foundation, Mohit Aggarwal, and Himanshu Tiwari.

Principal Mona Bali expressed gratitude to all guests and supporters and said that the establishment of the STEM Lab is a matter of immense pride and happiness for the institution. She described the occasion as the realisation of a long-cherished vision aimed at ensuring a brighter future for students.

She further said that the curiosity, enthusiasm, and eagerness of students to learn something new continue to inspire the school community. The STEM Lab will not merely be a classroom but a platform to give wings to students’ dreams, imagination, and scientific thinking.

Principal Mona Bali also emphasised that the support, trust, and dedication of all collaborators played a vital role in turning this dream into reality. She expressed confidence that this initiative would prepare students for future challenges and ignite a new spirit of innovation and self-confidence among them.

The programme was attended by Hari Raj Singh, Balendu Joshi, Shanti Bisht, Sujata Sharma, Renu Joshi, Sheetal, Neeraj Uniyal, Saurabh Kaushal, Sachin Sharma, Ravi, along with other teachers, staff members, and distinguished guests.
