Mussoorie, 14 May: Congress workers gathered at Picture Palace Chowk here on Thursday to stage a vigorous protest against the BJP governments at, both, the Centre and the State. Citing the recently surfaced paper leak scandals, the workers accused the government of playing with the future of the youth and registered their protest by burning an effigy of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. During the demonstration, Congress workers raised loud slogans against the BJP government. The protest and sloganeering continued for a considerable time at Picture Palace Chowk. By burning the Union Education Minister’s effigy, the Congress workers expressed their outrage against the government. Traffic in the area was also disrupted for a brief period due to the protest. The workers stated that incidents of paper leaks are continuously surfacing across the country and the state, yet the government is proving to be completely ineffective in curbing them.
Mussoorie Congress President Amit Gupta and the State Youth Congress General Secretary alleged that, while the BJP government makes grand claims and announcements, the youth are failing to receive justice at the grassroots level. They asserted that the future of millions of young people—who work hard to prepare for competitive examinations—is constantly being put at stake. They further stated that, even today, several syndicates remain active across the country, utilising the power of money to manipulate the examination system and shatter the dreams of the youth. They alleged that, due to the government’s negligence and a flawed administrative system, incidents such as paper leaks show no signs of abating.
Congress leaders also raised questions regarding the law and order situation in the state. They pointed out that crime rates are on the rise, women are unsafe, and individuals linked to the BJP are frequently emerging as suspects in various criminal cases. In light of this, they argued that the government is proving to be a complete failure in maintaining law and order. The protesters stated that the Narendra Modi-led central government and the Pushkar Singh Dhami-led state government are merely engaged in misleading the public. The public has now seen through their tactics and will give a fitting reply in the times to come. Congress workers demanded a CBI inquiry into the recently surfaced paper leak scandal. They asserted that the youth’s trust cannot be restored until an impartial investigation into the entire matter is conducted and action is taken against the key accused. Congress leaders warned that, if the government fails to take concrete steps in the interest of the youth, the party will continue its agitation.

Several individuals were present on this occasion, including Anuj Gupta, Jasbir Kaur, Tejpal Rauthan, Jagpal Gusain, Saurabh Sonkar, Gaurav Gupta, Wasim Khan, Rajiv Agarwal, Paramvir Kharola, and Shahrukh Khan.
