Dehradun, 10 May: A two-day national conference on judicial creativity and drug discovery was held at Siddharth Law College and Siddharth Institute of Pharmacy. Various aspects including artificial intelligence were discussed at the seminar.
The seminar was inaugurated by Chief Guest Prof Onkar Singh, Vice Chancellor of Uttarakhand Technical University. He called upon experts, researchers, teachers and students associated with the judicial field to create a platform to provide virtual judicial assistance using Artificial Intelligence. For this, use could be made of the database of court decisions available till now in digital format, and preparing an application to provide preliminary advice.
Prof Singh also encouraged pharmacy researchers to work on drug discovery using modern technology keeping in mind the social and economic disparities of the country, so that even the last person can get opportunities to live a healthy life.
As a special guest, Dr S Farooq, President of Himalaya Wellness Company, said that India ranks third in drug production in the world and 14th in quality. To increase the quality in drug production, continuous research is necessary. APTI Uttarakhand Branch President Rajeev Sharma said that the aim of pharma companies is not only to earn profit but also to support the medical system. Dr Sushil Kumar Singh, Director of RS Research Foundation of Administration and Policy, explained the importance of constitutionalism to the students in simple language.
VK Maheshwari, Director of Siddharth Law College, described the theme of constitutionalism as excellent and stressed on understanding its importance. President of the institute, Durga Prasad Verma stressed on creating an integrated research centre at the national level. He said that doing research on a small scale in different institutions does not yield positive results. Having a platform at the national level will make it easier to do research.
