“AI Theme Room” & “AI on Wheels” launched in Doon’s Lok Bhavan

Dehradun, 14 May: Governor Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd) inaugurated an “AI Theme Room” and flagged off the “AI on Wheels” vehicle at the Lok Bhavan, here, today. On this occasion, the Governor stated that a new technological revolution has begun in Uttarakhand, led by the youth and the “Amrit Generation” of India. He said that India has recognised the vision of the 21st century and the goal of a “Developed India” by 2047, and the country’s youth are now leading the way toward achieving it.

Addressing the gathering, the Governor emphasised that “technological sovereignty” is extremely important for India’s future. He said that, to protect the nation from technological dependence or digital colonisation, research, innovation, startups, and entrepreneurship must begin with the youth. He urged young people not to remain mere consumers of technology, but to become creators through innovation and research, thereby contributing to the vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat.

The Governor stated that the “AI Theme Room” would serve as a vibrant centre for innovation, research, and public participation, where youth would not only learn to use technology but also develop solutions to real-world problems. He expressed confidence that startups and research emerging from this centre would provide a new technological direction to Uttarakhand.

Appreciating the “AI on Wheels” initiative, the Governor said that this mobile AI centre would take modern technological education to students in remote mountainous regions and far-flung villages of the state. He added that the initiative would help bridge the digital divide and ensure access to technology for the last person in society.

The Governor congratulated the youth of Techno Hub Engineering, especially Siddharth Madhav and his team, stating that the technological revolution initiated by them would spread innovation and technological awareness throughout the state. A live robot demonstration was also presented during the event, where the robot distributed souvenirs to children, becoming a major attraction of the programme.

Among those present on the occasion were Dr RP Singh, Secretary to the Governor Ravinath Raman, Additional Secretary Reena Joshi, ITDA Director Alok Kumar Pandey, Director General, U-COST, Prof Durgesh Pant, Vice Chancellor, Doon University, Prof Surekha Dangwal, Vice Chancellor, Uttarakhand Technical University, Prof Tripta Thakur, along with several distinguished guests, college students, and schoolchildren.

The AI Theme Room established at Lok Bhavan is a state-of-the-art technology and innovation centre created to make Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies accessible to the general public.

Equipped with advanced AI systems, robotics, IoT devices, high-performance computing infrastructure, and interactive technologies, the centre serves as a collaborative platform for students and researchers. Its objective is to reduce technological inequality in Uttarakhand and provide access to modern technological resources to those who otherwise may not have such opportunities.

The AI Theme Room aims to inspire and empower youth to learn, innovate, and develop impactful technological solutions for society.

AI on Wheels is a modern mobile technology laboratory designed to bring Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies to remote and rural areas of Uttarakhand.

Equipped with the latest technological tools and educational resources, this initiative promotes digital awareness, innovation, and technical education among students and rural communities. AI on Wheels functions as a moving innovation laboratory and plays a significant role in realising the state government’s vision of technological inclusion.

Through this initiative, efforts are being made to spread awareness about AI-based technologies, future-ready skills, and scientific thinking to every part of the state.

Operation Kalki is a statewide innovation initiative launched under the leadership of Governor Gurmit Singh.

As part of this initiative, the AI Theme Room team visited all 13 districts of Uttarakhand and interacted with students from government schools to promote innovation, scientific thinking, and awareness about AI-based education.

Through interactive sessions, mentorship, and training programmes, students were encouraged to identify real-life problems and develop technological solutions for them. The initiative has helped foster research, creativity, problem-solving abilities, and technological innovation among the youth of Uttarakhand.

One of the most significant achievements of Operation Kalki has been the contribution of students from across the state in developing 108 innovative application ideas. These applications showcased the talent, creativity, and technological capabilities of young innovators from Uttarakhand in sectors such as tourism, agriculture, horticulture, education, and public services.
