DEHRADUN, 29 Nov: Life Insurance Corporation of India is organising the “All India LIC Games 2018-19” from 3 to 6 December at Maharana Pratap Sports College, Raipur, here. There will be six disciplines on show – Athletics, Volleyball, Badminton, Carom, Chess and Table Tennis played by men and women players. These 392 players (250 Men & 142 Women) of LIC are coming from 112 divisional offices of 8 Zones of LIC India. There are 4 National and 8 International players also participating in this championship. International players include World Carom Champion, 2018, S Apoorva and Chess Grandmasters Sriram Jha, Anup Deshmukh, Swati Ghate, Dinesh Sharma, Badminton player Siddharth and Table Tennis player Parag Agrarwal. Monika Athare, who got a medal in 5000 metres and 10,000 metres category in National Athletics will also participate.
On 3 December, the All India LIC Games 2018-19 will be inaugurated by Chief Guest B Venugopal, Managing Director, LIC, at Maharana Pratap Sports College. All the winners will be presented medals at the closing ceremony by Chief Guest Hemant Bhargava, Managing Director, LIC. The four day gala event will witness a March Past and oath taking ceremony by the players along with a cultural programme. During this championship, senior officials of LIC, Kiran Sahdev, Executive Director (HRD), KS Nagnyal, Executive Director, (CC), NP Sinha, Zonal Manager, North Central Zone, Kanpur, MR Sharma, Regional Manager (HRD), North Central Zone, Kanpur, PK Saxena, Sr Divisional Manager, Dehradun, will be present at the venue.
PK Saxena said, “We are happy that our head office has chosen Dehradun as a venue for the All India LIC Games 2018-19 and we hope all the players will make new records during this championship.”
