Dehradun, 22 Sep: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Uttarakhand on 7 October for a two day visit to the state. On 7 October, he will chair a meeting of the Central Regional Council to be held in Narendra Nagar. This meeting has been postponed twice in the past. Initially this meeting was to be held on 15 July but was rescheduled for 24 September but it has been postponed again and now will be held on 7 October.

According to official sources, this council meeting will be held in a hotel in Narendra Nagar, which is becoming a favourite destination for important meetings of the state government. Narendra Nagar has a number of premier five to seven star hotels which also regularly hold corporate meetings. The state government has now started preparations in earnest for the meeting as, at present, it does not appear that the meeting will be postponed again. The Chief Ministers, Chief Secretaries of Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh besides officials of the Union Home Ministry will come to Uttarakhand for the meeting.

However, as usually happens, Amit Shah’s visit will not remain restricted to just one event in the state. It will coincide with the Millet Mahotsav being organised in Haldwani on 7 and 8 October, and Shah will be the Chief Guest on this occasion. In this millets festival, a large number of farmers of the state, particularly from the hills, are expected to participate. Stalls related to millet will be set up in Shri Anna Mahotsav. Apart from this, cultural programmes including technical sessions and presentations by the Indian Institute of Millet Research and the students of Agricultural University will also be organised at the festival.

On the first day of Shri Anna Mahotsav, Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Agriculture Ministers of Millet states will participate in the programme.

Although, no political meeting of BJP is listed in the itinerary, but unofficially, political discussions between him and the CM and the BJP State President are also likely, particularly in view of the upcoming Parliamentary Elections and also on the state of affairs in Uttarakhand.
