Approval granted to setting up SPV on Dehradun’s Traffic Management

Dhami chairs Cabinet Meeting

Dehradun, 10 Sep: A cabinet meeting was held at the Secretariat today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. During the meeting, the cabinet approved several key proposals aimed at development, improving traffic, and administrative reform in Dehradun and the state’s hill areas. After the cabinet meeting, Additional Secretary and Director General, Information, Banshidhar Tiwari briefed the media on the important decisions taken.

Among the most important decisions taken by the cabinet today was approval of a proposal to set up a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to manage public transport in the city. In another significant move, the cabinet approved a proposal that the Animal Husbandry Department will roll out a poultry feed subsidy scheme for poultry farmers across nine hill districts, namely Almora, Chamoli, Uttarkashi, Pithoragarh, Champawat, Pauri, Bageshwar, Tehri, and Rudraprayag. Under this initiative, 816 beneficiaries under the Broiler Farm Scheme and 781 under the Poultry Valley Establishment Scheme will stand to benefit during the initial year 2025-26. The government has earmarked a total feed subsidy of Rs 2,83,85,000 for this purpose.

In an effort to improve the traffic situation in Dehradun city, the Transport Department was given a green signal to form a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) under the name of Dehradun City Transport Limited. This newly formed entity will be responsible for operating the e-buses currently run by Dehradun Smart City Limited, managing the e-buses under the Prime Minister E-Bus Service Scheme, and streamlining the existing city bus service to ensure better connectivity for local residents and tourists.

The Cabinet also approved a proposal of the Housing Department to allot a plot of land measuring 9.918 hectares in Fazalpur Mehraula village, Rudrapur tehsil of Udham Singh Nagar district, to the District Level Development Authority, Udham Singh Nagar. This land will be allotted at the current circle rate and will be utilised for construction of planned colonies and commercial buildings within the authority area, thereby boosting infrastructure development in the region.

The cabinet also approved some key proposals for the Justice Department. These included creation of two positions of lawyers at the High Court’s establishment office. The cabinet also sanctioned the creation of one post of Senior Principal Private Secretary with a Pay Scale of 1,23,100-2,15,900 (Level-13, Grade Pay 8700) and approved the surrender of one Stenographer post with a Pay Scale of 29,200-92,300 (Level-05) in the stenographer cadre at the office of the Advocate General, High Court, Nainital. Furthermore, the 9th annual report of the Uttarakhand Right to Service for the year 2023-24 was also approved by the cabinet to be presented in the Assembly to ensure transparency and accountability in public service delivery.
