Dehradun, 16 Jun: The Association of Scientific and Technical Officers (ASTO), ONGC, Dehradun, organised a felicitation programme today at the ONGC Officer’s Club, here, to celebrate the success of the wards of ONGCians who have obtained 90% or higher marks in class 10, 85% marks or higher in class 12, wards who have topped university in their graduation/post graduation courses and wards who have excelled in sports at the National and International level.
The Chief Guest on the occasion was Dr Dhan Singh Rawat, Minister of State for Higher Education, Cooperatives & Dairy Development, while YK Srivastava, ED-HOI, ONGC Academy, Dr Harilal, ED-HOI-KDMIPE, and RK Srivastava, GGM-Chief E&D, were the Guests of Honour on the occasion.
Welcoming the Chief Guest and the gathering, Ajay Singh Rawat, President, ASTO, Dehradun, congratulated the young achievers for their performances and informed that such facilitation programmes had been going on since 2007 and today’s function marked the 12th edition of the series. He remarked that ASTO-Dehradun was privileged to play a small part in motivating the young achievers for their meritorious performances and hoped that this small gesture would inspire them to strive for excellence in their careers ahead.
RK Srivastava applauded ASTO for this unique gesture. While congratulating the recipients of the merit awards, he urged them to keep working hard so as to rise higher and bring laurels for their parents and country at large. Dr Harilal, ED-HOI KDMIPE, congratulated all the young talented students and wished them good luck. Echoing the sentiment, YK Srivastava emphasised the role of hard work and discipline in life and advised the children to also pursue their hobbies along with academics.
Dr Dhan Singh Rawat extended his blessings to the students and wished them success in their future endeavours. He enlightened the audience on the various schemes being run by the Uttarakhand Government in the field of higher education. He spoke particularly about the success of the “Super 30” programme, which was started two years ago by the state government, which is mainly aimed at imparting IIT coaching to the students from the lowest strata of society. He acknowledged the role being played by ONGC in facility development being done at Kedarnath and Gangotri shrines. He also appreciated ONGC’s contribution in works being done under Swachh Bharat scheme for the common people of the State.
Following this, the certificates and mementos were presented. The atmosphere was filled with joy and delight as 58 young achievers were called on stage to receive the certificate and mementoes.
The programme ended with the vote of thanks proposed by Ashutosh Verma, Secretary, ASTO, Dehradun. Ashish Chauhan, Jt Secretary, ASTO-Dehradun, coordinated the programme, while Bharat Kamble, Manager (IE), and Padmaja Sawant DGM (HR) conducted the entire function.
Also present were Ajay Sharma, Secretary –ONGC Staff Union, Sanjay Bhat, Secretary, EWC, JS Chug, Jt Secretary-EWC, and the members of Executive Committee of ASTO Dehradun.
