Dehradun, 23 Dec: Welcoming the announcement of municipal elections in the state, the BJP has claimed that it will post victory in most of the bodies, including all corporations. The party stated that the notification issued with reservation determination is in accordance with the rules and public sentiment.

BJP also stated that the state leadership will discuss district-wise reports with supervisors and district teams of Kumaon and Garhwal divisions starting tomorrow in order to finalise the candidate selection process.

State Party President Mahendra Bhatt today expressed his satisfaction, claiming that public sentiments were considered for the first time in deciding the reservation of the bodies. He emphasised that all objections were fully considered, and the reservation was finalised only after detailed hearings. He asserted that the BJP welcomes the government’s notification for municipal elections, which includes the hearing of objections and reservation as per rules.

He also stated that following the announcement of the dates for the civic elections, there is an atmosphere of enthusiasm not only among party workers but also among the general public. This excitement stems from the shared desire to actively participate in sustaining the pace of development in their respective cities and towns. A significant number of BJP members, motivated by their roles as social and political workers, have expressed their willingness to serve as public representatives.

Bhatt claimed that the party has adopted a democratic process for candidate selection by deploying observer teams to all corporations, municipalities, and Nagar Panchayats. These teams have now completed their assessments, and their reports will be reviewed by the state team over the next two days. Tomorrow, discussions will focus on candidates for all seats in the Kumaon Mandal, while on 26 December, the discussion will be held on candidates from the Garhwal Mandal. Observers will provide detailed feedback from opinion polls conducted for positions such as Mayor, Municipal Chairman, Nagar Panchayat Chairman, Councillors, and Ward Members, organised district-wise.

He further claimed that the party’s strategy for the civic elections is finalised and would be implemented after the election dates are announced. Following discussions on the observers’ reports, ground surveys have also been initiated. Prior to this, consultations were held with district in-charges and officials. He expressed confidence that the three-tier candidate selection process will be completed shortly, leading to the finalisation of the party’s authorised candidates.

He confidently asserted that the party, leveraging its organisational strength and strategic planning, is well-prepared to achieve the target of winning nearly 100 percent of the seats.
