Haridwar, 22 Mar: Former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand and BJP candidate from Haridwar Lok Sabha seat, Trivendra Singh Rawat filed his nomination online, today, from the Haridwar District BJP office.
Many senior BJP leaders, including former Chief Minister and the outgoing MP Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, and MLA Madan Kaushik, were also present. Interacting with the media, Trivendra Singh Rawat stated that he had received a call from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who extended his greetings to the people of Haridwar through him.
Rawat also shared that PM Modi discussed with him regarding the party’s prospects in the Haridwar Lok Sabha seat. PM Modi also reminded him that the holy city of Haridwar is a major centre of faith of crores of Hindus and, therefore, this Lok Sabha seat is very important for the BJP.
Rawat added that he assured PM Modi that this time he would win the Haridwar seat with record breaking number of votes. The people of Haridwar are with him and the BJP.
Rawat has also spoke about the recent arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Rawat said that this is a matter under investigation. The Enforcement Directorate has found many facts against him, on the basis of which Kejriwal has been arrested. Even before this, the work of sending criminals to jail has been done. Questioning the current protest by the workers and leaders of Aam Aadmi Party against the arrest, Rawat sought to know why Kejriwal had failed to appear before the ED when he had been sent summons eight times before.
Trivendra Singh Rawat said that Prime Minister Modi’s dream of Digital India is now coming true. This first digital nomination of Uttarakhand has started from the holy land of Mother Ganga. Digital nomination is budget friendly and it also saves time. After first announcing the candidates for the five Lok Sabha seats, BJP had now also fixed the dates for nomination of the candidates.
Rawat said that he decided to file his nominations in digital form in order to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream of Digital India. However, he would also file his nominations offline on 26 March. He asserted that there are many benefits of online nomination, one of which is that one need not gather a crowd or take out a procession, noting that often people have to face the problem of traffic jams due to the crowd during filing of nominations.
