Brig Behl receives ‘Vyo Shri’ award from Senior Citizens’ Welfare Society

Dehradun, 6 Oct: A celebration on the occasion of International Senior Citizens’ Day and the Seventh Founder’s Day of Senior Citizens’ Welfare Society, Uttarakhand, was organized here on 4 October at a hotel on Haridwar Road. Founder KL Arora and all other senior officials of the society welcomed the guests.

On the occasion, Vice President, Max Hospital, Dr Sandeep Singh Tanwar, and Dr Saurabh Kumar, spoke about mental disorders and radiology. Kuldip Rawat provided information on facilities available at Graphic Era Hospital.

State President of the Society Mr Kothiyal welcomed all the guests and paid tributes to the people who lost their lives during the recent disaster in Dehradun. He also paid tribute to the members of the society who passed away during the year. Two minutes’ silence was observed in their memory. He also mentioned the work done by the society. General Secretary Gyan Prakash Gupta presented the Annual Report.

The Chief Guest on the occasion was MLA Savita Kapoor, who along with Brigadier KG Behl, KL Arora and others, lit the ceremonial lamp. Avinash Manchanda briefed the gathering on work done for society by Brigadier KG Behl (Retd). Brig Behl was honoured with the ‘Vyo Shri’ award presented with a memento and a turban by the Chief Guest and other dignitaries. Brig Behl spoke about the Bhagawad Geeta, which he has translated from Sanskrit to simple rhymed English poetry, ‘Shloka by Shloka’, which can be understood by any English knowing person. Founder of the Society KL Arora also spoke about the work done by the Dehradun unit of the society. Representatives from Saharanpur also took part.

Prominent amongst present on the occasion were Dr S Farooq, President, Himalaya Wellness Company, Dr DP Juyal, ex-MLA GIG Mann, Dr Anup Singh Negi, OP Ratra, Pradeep Aggarwal, SK Ramola, Dr S Kaintura, and Hari Krishna Petwal.

Chief Guest MLA Savita Kapoor appreciated the social work done by the Senior Citizens’ Society. Patron Atul Joshi, Gokaran Sharma and patron Atul Chug and others were also honoured.

The function continued with a cultural programme in different languages and was appreciated by all.

The programme was organized by KK Oberai, SK Tiwari. The Programme Advisory Committee Chairman Dr DP Juyal proposed the vote of thanks.
