Dehradun, 4 Sep: Chief Minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami, laid the foundation stone of Science Faculty building at Government Post Graduate College, Maldevta (Raipur), here today. On this occasion, he announced that 8 new degree colleges would be established in the state. These new colleges would be set up in Dehradun city, Haridwar (Bhupatwala), Haldwani, Gadarpur, Udham Singh Nagar, Danya Almora, Kaljikhal Pauri, Khirsu Pauri and Dewal Chamoli. He said that 7 colleges of the state would also be upgraded from undergraduate to postgraduate colleges. These include Government College, Munsyari (Pithoragarh), Government College, Gairsain (Chamoli), Government College, Kapkot (Bageshwar), Government College Someshwar, Government College, Halduchour (Nainital), Government College, Laksar (Haridwar) and Government College, Thalisain ( Pauri).
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced that 50 additional educational posts would be created at the undergraduate level and 10 at the post-graduate level as per the requirement in the already functional government colleges. At least one lecture hall with video conferencing and other necessary modern technical facilities would be set up in all government colleges of the state. In accordance with the provisions of the new education policy, a high level committee would be constituted under the chairmanship of an eminent educationist of national and international level, to start inter-disciplinary courses in government universities and change the existing courses. The Chief Minister said that classes of science faculty and home science would also be started at the postgraduate level in Government Postgraduate College Maldevata (Raipur).
Chief Minister Dhami also made various announcements for Raipur assembly constituency including a 33 KV Power sub station in Maldevta Kheri rural area. He added that water drainage work would be sanctioned through RCC pipeline in Punjab National Bank under Maldevta. Flood protection work would be done from Maldevta Farm to Maldevta Bazar on Soung river in development block Raipur. The Chief Minister said that two months ago he had got an opportunity to work as the chief executive of the state. Continuous efforts were being made by the state government for qualitative improvement in the field of education. For speedy resolution of public problems, the responsibility of officers have been fixed at each level. Directions have been issued that the works which were at the development block and tehsil level be solved there and the works which could be resolved at the district level, be resolved by the district level officers only. Instructions have been given to all the officers that the works which could be completed at the district level ought not be sent to the government level. Special attention was being paid for simplification, resolution and disposal of tasks. Instructions have been given to the officers to work on no pendency basis.
