RUDRAPUR, 6 Mar: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami distributed Nazul land leases to 2,600 beneficiaries during a function held at Gandhi Park, here, today. In addition, the CM also handed over ownership letters to 403 people who have been allotted houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. At the same time, the Chief Minister also inaugurated and/or laid the foundation stone of 222 development projects worth Rs 567.05 crores.

The Chief Minister also participated in a virtual dialogue with the Prime Minister on the occasion of the conclusion of the Shakti Vandan Abhiyan in Police Lines.

The projects which he inaugurated or laid foundations of were mainly related to Jaspur, Khatima, Rudrapur, Kashipur, Bajpur, Kichha, Sitarganj and Nanakmatta, all of them being part of district Udham Singh Nagar.

Addressing the gathering on this occasion, the Chief Minister said he was also very happy that finally the day had come when the beneficiaries are getting the leasehold land to build their dream houses. He observed that this is the first time since independence that they had received land leases. For this, the government has also worked equally hard.

Dhami reminded that when the High Court had rejected the Nazul (leasehold) policy and ordered vacation of the land, the government took the issue to the Supreme Court and fought for the rights of the beneficiaries.

It was a major win in the Supreme Court for them also because of the blessings of the Centre, besides the prayers and wishes of the beneficiaries themselves. After this, the government passed a law in the Assembly, implementing the Nazul Policy 2021.It was only after this that the government has been able to distribute lease documents to the beneficiaries. The CM claimed that the government has also ensured the beneficiaries do not have to run around to get the lease. Rather, the employees and officers of government offices themselves will come to their doorstep and complete all the necessary formalities. The government also ensured that not a single rupee would be spent by the beneficiary families in this entire process.

The Chief Minister reminded the gathering that he, too, comes from an ordinary family and he was born and brought up in a village. He has seen and understands the struggles of life closely. Most of the time of the common people’s lives is spent in solving the problems of basic needs like food, clothing and shelter. In such a situation, building a house is no less than a big dream while, in urban areas, to even buy the land to build a house is a big deal.

Dhami also claimed that the government is a true well[1]wisher of the people and by simplifying the Nazul policy, the government has given a great gift to the city residents. Now the colonies will be regulated after the beneficiaries get ownership rights. He said that this is just the first phase in which ownership leases are being given to 2,600 families, the process of providing leases to the remaining eligible families is still in progress. Very soon they too would get the lease to build their dream houses. The CM claimed that there is no difference between the words and actions of the BJP government, which is fulfilling the promises made to the people with the basic mantra of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas.

He said that the government is especially working for the prosperity and uplift of the deprived, exploited and economically weak people. The Chief Minister said that this is a double engine government, which is working for the common person with the honesty and spirit of public service under the guidance and inspiration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also distributed cheques to the beneficiaries of various schemes on this occasion. Union Minister of State for Defence and Tourism Ajay Bhatt congratulated all the beneficiaries. He said that the double engine government is making every possible effort to solve the problems of the people and working for the uplift of the poor. On this occasion, MLA Arvind Pandey, MLA Shiv Arora, Anil Kapoor (Dabbu), Uttam Dutta, District BJP President Kamal Jindal were among those present.
