DEHRADUN, 27 Jan: Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat flagged off 26 new ambulances of 108 emergency services at the Mahatma Gandhi Shatabdi Eye Treatment Science Centre, here. The Chief Minister also inaugurated equipment worth Rs 2 crore donated by Hans Foundation.
Talking to media persons informally, the Chief Minister said that 108 emergency ambulances services had proved to be life savers in Uttarakhand. He said that the state government had been making constant efforts to improve health services in the state. He said that to strengthen the health services, the old ambulances were substituted with 61 BLS ambulances in November last and, today, 26 new ambulances had been added. Till today, a total of 87 BLS ambulances had been included and soon 34 more BLS ambulances and 16 ALS ambulances would provide services to the people.
He added that the air ambulance service had also been launched from 26 January, which would prove to be a boon for patients under emergency situations.
The Chief Minister claimed that the Hans Foundation was playing an important role in the development of the state and it had donated equipment worth Rs 2 core to the Mahatma Gandhi Eye Hospital, which was inaugurated today. The CEO of Hans Foundation, Gen SM Mehta (Retd), and Director General, Health and Family Welfare, Dr TC Pant, were also present on the occasion.
