CM flags off Gangotri pilgrimage for senior citizens

Haldwani, 14 Oct: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today flagged off a contingent of 32 devotees for Gangotri Dham under the state government’s ‘Matri-Pitri Tirthatan Yojana’.

At the function held at the Circuit House in Haldwani, today, CM Dhami extended his best wishes for a safe, pleasant, and auspicious journey to all the pilgrims undertaking this pilgrimage. On this occasion, the CM observed that the state government’s Matri-Pitri Tirthatan Yojana, operating for senior citizens, aims to provide them with the opportunity to visit religious sites and imbue their lives with spiritual peace and joy.

The contingent of devotees embarking on the five-day pilgrimage comprises 19 women and 13 men. The pilgrims in this group will visit Gangotri Dham and various other sacred religious spots enroute. Arrangements for their accommodation, meals, etc., have been made at the tourist rest houses operated by Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam.

Also present on the occasion were MLAs Banshidhar Bhagat (Kaladhungi) and Ram Singh Kaida (Bhimtal), BJP District President Pratap Bisht, various functionaries of the state government, Kumaon Commissioner Deepak Rawat, IG Ridhim Agarwal, and other public representatives and officials.
