Dehradun, 29 Jan: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami flagged off the ‘Lab on Wheels’ under the Infosys Springboard initiative from the CM’s Camp Office here today. It has been claimed that this initiative has been launched with the objective of strengthening skill development among students across Uttarakhand. The mobile laboratory has been designed to provide students with hands-on learning facilities in emerging and future-ready fields such as Artificial Intelligence, coding, Internet of Things and other advanced technologies, while also enabling them to learn various scientific experiments through virtual modes.

The Lab on Wheels aims to offer to the students an improved platform based on the concept of learning by doing. Over the next five years, the Infosys Springboard Lab on Wheels will travel to educational institutions across the state to generate awareness among students, impart practical and experiential training and connect them with global learning and career opportunities. It has been further claimed that this initiative will play a key role in equipping students with relevant skills aligned with the demands of the modern knowledge-driven economy.

The programme seeks to bridge the existing gap arising from the limited availability of practical training facilities for students within the state. The hands-on sessions and practical modules available through the Lab on Wheels have been specifically designed to benefit students at the school level as well as those pursuing higher and technical education, thereby strengthening their conceptual understanding and practical competence.

Besides the CM, others present on the occasion included Dehradun Cantt MLA Savita Kapoor, MLA Pramod Nainwal, Vice Chairman of the Higher Education Upgrade Committee Dr Devendra Bhasin, Jaipal Singh Chauhan, Secretary, Higher Education, Ranjit Kumar Sinha, senior officers from the departments of Higher and Technical Education and representatives of Infosys.
