Chief Minister Dhami holds road show in Gauchar

Gauchar (Chamoli), 15 Feb: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the ‘Nanda-Gaura’ festival organised here today. A very large crowd had gathered to welcome the CM on the occasion. The CM inaugurated, and laid the foundation stones for 604 projects worth Rs 400 crores, for district Chamoli on this occasion.
Addressing the people, Dhami praised the work being done by the women of the state to realise the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi related to ‘Self-Reliant India’ and ‘Vocal for Local’ and said that the country is making rapid growth with the support of women power.
Of the total number of projects worth Rs 400 crores, he inaugurated 260 projects worth Rs 97 crores, and laid foundation stones for 344 projects worth Rs 303 crores.
The road show, beginning from the Gauchar Air Strip, witnessed a huge crowd all along the way to the Mela Ground here. People of the border areas and students of local schools dressed in traditional garments and carrying music instruments welcomed the CM by showering flowers. The women performed Kalash Yatra and school children presented Nanda Devi Rajjat, Chholiya dance, Pandav dance, Mangalgaan and other folk dances on this occasion.
In order to promote the traditional products of the hills, the Chief Minister also witnessed and participated in activities such as carpet weaving at Ranchh, running of traditional mountain mill (Jandra), spinning of wool on pedal charkha, weaving of Ringal basket and calligraphy on rare Bhojpatra along with the women groups. Praising the products, the Chief Minister urged them and the officials to open outlets on the Yatra route and to promote local carpets, fans, dokhas, shawls, caps, etc., made in the traditional way. The Chief Minister also appreciated the useful products made from Lantana grass.
Addressing the Nanda-Gaura Mahotsav, the Chief Minister said that Mother Nanda is revered as the presiding Deity in Chamoli district as well as in the entire Garhwal and Kumaon divisions. To bid farewell to the Kalash of Maa Nanda as a married daughter, Lokjaat Yatra is organised from Siddvapeeth Kurud every year and Rajjaat Yatra is organised once every 12 years. Gaura Devi has been the leader of the world famous Chipko movement for environmental protection. He said that this is the holy land of Lord Badrinath and that it is his privilege to participate in this programme.
The Chief Minister asserted that the government is dedicated to the uplift of women in the state. Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government is continuously organising various programmes for the welfare of women. In Uttarakhand, the promise made to the public has been fulfilled by passing the Uniform Civil Code in the Assembly. The Uniform Civil Code is not for any caste or religious community but in the interest of the entire state.
Dhami emphasised that, without the support of women, there can be no development of any society or any nation. Today, women in remote villages of the state are forming self-help groups and giving impetus to the rural economy through cottage industries. Women have never had any shortage of skills and now these are powering the economy. The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened bank accounts of 23 crore women and now every kind of subsidy is being deposited directly into their accounts.
Dhami added that his government has imbibed the basic mantra of Prime Minister Modi “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas”. He has always received affection from the people of Chamoli. The result is that, today, more than Rs 400 crore worth of schemes have been initiated.
Dhami stated that, on the one hand, the country’s most stringent anti-copying law was implemented in Uttarakhand, and on the other, a law was also made to stop religious conversion. For the first time in the state, action was taken against land jihad. For the first time, ‘we did not shy away from taking action against the corrupt’.
The Chief Minister distributed cheques to the beneficiaries of various schemes and also handed over the keys of new houses to Rajeshwari Devi, Kusum Devi and Yashoda Devi of Gram Panchayat Dua under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, and Nandi Devi of village Suki Suraithota and Sarita Devi of village Tolma Suraithota under Atal Awas Yojana. He also felicitated a large number of women for their achievements.
Minister in-charge of the district, Dr Dhan Singh Rawat said that, under the leadership of Chief Minister Dhami, work is being done to strengthen health services in the entire state. Work on filling the vacant posts of doctors in hospitals has become possible under the Dhami Govt.
Garhwal MP Tirath Singh Rawat, while praising the state government for the development of women, said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, historic works are being done in the state of Uttarakhand.
Karnaprayag MLA Anil Nautiyal shared with the people work being done by the government in the district, while Tharali MLA Bhopal Ram Tamta expressed his gratitude for the work being done for the development of the district.
Ramesh Gadhiya, Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey, District Magistrate Himanshu Khurana, Superintendent of Police Rekha Yadav, Chief Development Officer Abhinav Shah, BJP District President Ramesh Maikhuri, Mahila Morcha President Himani Vaishnav and a large number of women and local people were also present at the programme.
