CM orders intensive verification drive of ‘outsiders’ living in U’khand

Outsiders buying land in U’khand will have to declare purpose, any criminal record

Dehradun, 20 Jun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today chaired a high-level meeting regarding the law and order situation in the state. It may be recalled that some recent crimes in the state have raised concern over the law and order situation in Uttarakhand among the people. During the meeting that was held at the Chief Minister’s residence here, today, he ordered the top officials to keep a strict eye on the law and order situation in Uttarakhand. The CM stressed that an intensive verification drive be carried out regarding ‘outsiders’ living in the state.

The Chief Minister also issued instructions to the officials to monitor land transactions in Uttarakhand done by the ‘outsiders’. They must be mandatorily required to submit a declaration form sharing the purpose of buying land in the state as well as details of any criminal antecedents. For this a prescribed form would be prepared.

During the investigation, if a criminal case is found against any person intending to buy land here, then it should be clearly mentioned in a prescribed format. The CM also directed the officials that people with criminal tendencies should be identified. He emphasised that strict action be taken against those who create any nuisance or try to subvert law and order.

During the meeting, the CM also discussed issues like forest fires, drinking water and power supply situation, and directed Chief Secretary Radha Raturi to review these problems through regular meetings, adding that effective measures be taken to avoid such problems in future. He ordered strict action against officials found to be negligent in their work. He also reviewed the preparations for the coming monsoon and directed the officials to ensure that all preparations are completed in view of disaster management. He also directed the administration and the Police to ensure complete preparations for the upcoming Kanwar Mela. The CM said that senior officers of the government should be in regular touch with all the District Magistrates and ensure that any request for help from the districts is provided as soon as possible.

Dhami instructed the officers in the meeting to ensure that the funds of the public welfare schemes being run by the government through various departments reach the beneficiary at the earliest through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer). The Finance Department and the Information Technology Department were directed to take immediate action in this regard. The CM also insisted on adoption of effective measures for water conservation and rejuvenation of water sources and asked the officers to launch a campaign for tree plantation on a large scale and to ensure people’s involvement and participation. He also issued instructions to pay special attention to rainwater harvesting.

Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, DGP Abhinav Kumar, Secretaries Meenakshi Sundaram, Dilip Jawalkar, Shailesh Bagoli, Vinay Shankar Pandey, ADG AP Anshuman, Special Secretary Dr Parag Madhukar Dhakate, Vice President, MDDA, Banshidhar Tiwari, Additional Secretary JC Kandpal were among those present at the meeting.
