Dehradun, 1 May: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has granted financial approval of Rs 1252 crores for a wide range of development projects and for works related to the forthcoming Kumbh Mela 2027. The government claims that these decisions are expected to strengthen infrastructure, improve disaster management and enhance arrangements related to drinking water and flood safety across Uttarakhand.
Under the Special Assistance to State for Capital Investment, an amount of Rs 115 crores has been sanctioned for the renovation of Triveni Ghat under the Rishikesh Ganga Corridor project, while an amount of Rs 69.06 crores has been approved for the development of North Har Ki Pauri under the Haridwar Ganga Corridor project. In Tehri Garhwal district, an amount of Rs 25.13 crores has been sanctioned for compensation of acquired land in 18 villages for the construction of a 28.605 km ring road around Tehri Lake, and Rs 10.94 crores has been approved for NPV payment related to forest land transfer for widening and improvement of the existing road. Against a total provision of Rs 100 crores for land acquisition and NPV payments, the amount of Rs 56.07 crores has been released as the first instalment.
In Pithoragarh district, an amount of Rs 4.67 crores has been sanctioned for the construction of eight igloo dome huts near Champhu Nala at Gabhyang under a new destination project to promote astro-tourism through community participation along the Kailash Mansarovar route. Under Samagra Shiksha, an amount of Rs 446 crores has been provisioned for salaries, allowances and medical reimbursements of teachers and staff in secondary and primary schools, while Rs 77.69 crores have been released for six months towards salaries of employees in 21 non-government colleges under the Higher Education Department against the provisioned Rs 155.37 crores for the current financial year.
In Champawat district, Rs 39 lakhs have been approved for surface parking construction at Lohaghat, and Rs 3.77 crores has been released as the first instalment for construction of 20 Type-II and 4 Type-III houses at Tanakpur police station against a sanctioned Rs 9.43 crores. In Dehradun’s Raipur constituency, Rs 4.22 crores have been sanctioned for flood protection works from the iron bridge to Song Bridge.
Under the MLA Local Area Development Fund scheme (MLALAD fund), a total amount of Rs 350 crores has been released at the rate of Rs 5 crores per MLA for 70 legislators to carry out development works in their constituencies. For the Urban Health and Wellness Centre scheme, Rs 56.35 crores received from the Government of India for 2023-24 have been reallocated from the State Contingency Fund for 2026-27 due to unavoidable circumstances. Additionally, Rs 1.90 crores have been sanctioned for construction of Type-4 and Type-5 houses at the Academy’s Vaibhavli compound, and Rs 4.86 crores has been approved for replacement of damaged distribution systems under the Haridwar Urban Drinking Water Scheme in Shivlok and Aryanagar.
For Kumbh Mela 2027, an amount of Rs 6 crores has been sanctioned for replacement of pipelines and distribution systems under the pumping water supply scheme in Haridwar, Rs 6 crores for repair and improvement of roads in Har Ki Pauri, Kanakhla and Gaurishankar areas, and Rs 99 lakhs for line shifting by the Electricity Department. To mitigate losses from natural disasters across all districts, Rs 13 crores have been released from the Disaster Mitigation Fund at the rate of Rs 1 crore per district against the total provision of Rs 28 crores.
