DEHRADUN, 7 Jan: Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister, Narendra Mode, for obtaining the approval of the Union Cabinet for 10 per cent reservation in government jobs for economically weak upper castes. The Chief Minister said that, for a long time, the demand for reservations on economic basis was being made by economically backward upper caste people across the country. This step of the Central Government would benefit this section of society. Describing the decision as a historic step by the central government, the Chief Minister said it was in the direction of realising the concept of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas”. He expressed confidence that this would benefit the economically backward people of Uttarakhand and the state’s youth would get better opportunities to get into government service.
