Conference on ‘Advances in STEM’ begins at U’chal University


DEHRADUN, 14 Mar: A two day “International Conference on Advances in Science, Technology, Engineering & Management” is being organised by Uttaranchal University on 14-15 March. Researchers from these fields from, both, India and foreign countries are presenting their papers and contributing towards increasing the knowledge bank in the specific fields.
This is the fourth conference being organised by Uttaranchal University at the International Level. ICAESMT-2019 has received more than 300 research papers submitted by researchers from Taiwan, UAE, Mexico, Singapore, etc. Ninety Research Papers have been selected and will be published by one of the top most organisations, namely, Elsevier. The conference also will serve as a platform for the release of the journal of Uttaranchal Institute of Technology (UIT).
The Inaugural Ceremony was initiated with the recital of the University Anthem followed by the felicitation of the dignitaries. The ceremonial lamp was lit by Chancellor Jitender Joshi, Vice Chancellor Prof (Dr) NK Joshi, Dr BK Bahuguna (former Chief Secretary, Govt of Tripura and former Chancellor, FRI, Dehradun), DC Mishra, Deputy Director General, NIC, Uttarakhand; Rajeev Ranjan, CEO, Ingenious Infraconsulting Pvt Ltd, Anil Kakkar, Chairman, CSI, Uttarakhand, K Narayana, Senior Tech Officer, NIC, Uttarakhand.
Prof (Dr) NK Joshi welcomed all the dignitaries and participants and stated that the objective of the conference was to encourage research in varied fields. The conference aimed to provide a common platform to all the Educationists, Engineers and Scientists and to share latest research through their detailed presentations.
Chief Guest Dr BK Bahuguna stated the need for social balance in Science and Technology, adding that it should be used for social development. Dr DC Mishra, Deputy Director General, NIC, Uttarakhand, in his Keynote Address declared that the world was developing technologically at a very fast pace and, to synchronise with it, adaptability and flexibility were the primary prerequisites.
He discussed various policies and initiatives undertaken by individuals, companies and the Indian Government in the field of technology at both national and international levels.
Rajeev Ranajan, CEO, Ingenious Infraconsulting Pvt Ltd, stressed that technology should always be used in a positive manner and towards a positive aim.
Dr Anil Kakkar provided information on Big Data and Artificial Intelligence. The address was followed by the release of the Conference Souvenir.
The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dr Sumit Chaudhary, Conference Convenor. Ajai Singh (Registrar), KB Pokhriyal (COE), Dr Vandana Joshi (Joint Registrar), Deans/Directors/Principals of all the constituent colleges of Uttaranchal University, NC Uniyal, Chief Librarian, all the HODs and faculty members along with the students were present on the occasion.
