Cong appoints coordinators for Grand Silver Jubilee fortnight of U’khand statehood

Dehradun, 30 Oct: The Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee has assigned responsibilities for senior party leaders to ensure the successful organisation of various programmes during the Silver Jubilee celebration fortnight marking twenty-five years of Uttarakhand’s statehood. In this regard, Suryakant Dhasmana, Senior Vice-President (Organisation) of the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC), announced that Pradesh President Karan Mahara has appointed coordinators for each event with the objective of giving the fortnight-long celebration a grand and impactful form.

Dhasmana shared that, on 1 November, the opening day of the fortnight, a tribute ceremony will be held at the Martyrs’ Memorial in Dehradun District Court compound, for which Rajendra Shah, General Secretary of the Pradesh Congress and a statehood activist, has been appointed coordinator. For the Silver Jubilee seminars scheduled across all development blocks of the state on 2 November, Pradesh General Secretary Jagdish Dhiman will serve as coordinator. On 3 November, a fruit distribution programme for patients in hospitals will be conducted by the District and Metropolitan Congress Committees in every district and, for this, Pradesh General Secretary Naveen Joshi will oversee the arrangements.

The Party Legislature group, led by Leader of the Opposition Yashpal Arya and Deputy Leader Bhuvan Kapri, will present the party’s position during the special session of the State Legislative Assembly. The press conference of senior Pradesh Congress leaders on 5 November will be coordinated by Suryakant Dhasmana, Spokesperson Sheesh Pal Singh Bisht, and the Media Department. On 6 November, Dhirendra Pratap, Vice-President of the Pradesh Congress Committee and a senior statehood activist, will coordinate the tribute programme at Rampur Tiraha.

In addition, an intellectuals’ conference will be held at the Pradesh Headquarters on 8 November under the supervision of SK Dhasmana. On the same day, Sardar Amarjeet Singh and Vishal Maurya will coordinate an exhibition showcasing the activities of various state governments over the past twenty-five years. On 9 November, the day of the Silver Jubilee, a series of programmes will be held at the Pradesh Congress Headquarters. For the flag hoisting ceremony at 10 a.m., Provincial Chief Organisers Hema Purohit, Manmohan Sharma, and Savitri Thapa have been nominated as coordinators. At 11 a.m., a cake-cutting and sweets distribution ceremony will be organised under the convenorship of SC President Madan Lal, followed by green fireworks at 6:30 p.m.

From 11 to 14 November, ‘Jai Uttarakhand Jai Bharat Tiranga Yatras’ (Tricolour Marches) will be taken out in all the 70 Assembly constituencies across the state. These will be coordinated by the District and Mahanagar Presidents in collaboration with local party leaders. The celebration will conclude in Dehradun on 14 November with a tribute and intellectual seminar on the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, led by Pradesh Congress President Karan Mahara.
