Mussoorie, 14 Nov: The birth anniversary of the country’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru was celebrated with great pomp here, today, by Congress workers. They laid wreaths and distributed sweets at the statue of Jawaharlal at the Fish Aquarium, here.
On this occasion, Congress workers recalled that Jawaharlal Nehru, born on 14 November 1889, had a special attachment to children and was called Chacha Nehru by them. It is celebrated as Children’s Day.
Congress activists said that Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru played an important role in the country’s struggle for independence, and later, when the country faced many challenges. Pandit Nehru introduced a progressive vision in foreign policy as well as in the sectors like education and health. He was a visionary leader who laid the foundation of modern India and established new dimensions in the field of education, science and progress. Since the independence of India, he made an invaluable contribution to laying the foundations of a strong and advanced nation. Pandit Nehru’s ideals and life values continue to inspire.
Former MLA Jot Singh Gunsola, former municipal president Manmohan Singh Malla, NC city president Amit Gupta, women president Jasbir Kaur, Rajiv Agarwal, Waseem Khan, Arvind Bhanand, Arvind Arvind, Ramesh Rao, Sajan Tamta and many others were among those present.
