Uttarakhand CSR Dialogue

Garhwal Post Bureau

Dehradun, 24 Sep: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the Uttarakhand CSR Dialogue programme at his residence here today and virtually inaugurated a digital classroom at the primary school in the CM’s Model Village, Sarkot. On the occasion, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed with Axis Bank Group for the digitalisation of 24 schools in the state and with Toyota for corporate social responsibility initiatives in environmental conservation, education, health, and community empowerment.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the CM asserted that leading corporate houses from across the country are contributing to Uttarakhand’s development through corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, particularly in the fields of quality education, healthcare, sanitation, and environmental protection.  He mentioned that among the institutions actively engaged in social activities in the state are IIFCL, Mankind, Awana Foundation, Toyota, Nestlé, THDC, IRCTC, HDFC, and Britannia.

Dhami recalled that the state government had organised the Global Investors Summit in 2023 to promote investment in Uttarakhand, which resulted in proposals exceeding Rs 3.56 lakh crores being signed at the summit. Of these, projects worth over Rs 1 lakh crores have already been implemented. More than 30 policies relating to industry, logistics, startups, and MSMEs have been introduced to boost industrial growth. The government has also set up incubation centres and created a Rs 200 crores venture fund to support startups and provide financial assistance to young entrepreneurs.

Dhami underlined the government’s consistent efforts to enhance the quality of education. Uttarakhand has become the first state in the country to implement the National Education Policy 2020. NCERT textbooks have been made mandatory across all government schools to ensure standardised learning. For the first time, job fairs for vocational students of Class 12 were organised, in which 146 students secured placements in reputed companies. The state has also pioneered the creation of a ‘State Curriculum Framework’ for foundational education.

He also said Uttarakhand has enacted the country’s strictest anti-cheating law to curb malpractices in recruitment examinations. More than 25,000 youth have secured government jobs in the last four and a half years, while over 100 members of exam mafias have been jailed since the law’s implementation. He claimed that attempts are being made by some elements to jeopardise the future of young aspirants through organised paper leaks, but recent efforts in the state have been foiled. The government, he affirmed, would not rest until such mafia are fully eliminated.

Among those present on the occasion included Sunil Ambekar, Head of Publicity for Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh; Vikram Gulati, Country Head of Toyota; Vinay Shankar Pandey, Secretary of Industries; Manmohan Mainali, Additional Secretary; along with several company and institutional representatives.
