DEHRADUN, 19 Jan: Centre for Aromatic Plants (CAP), Selaqui was inspected by Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar Singh on Saturday. While appreciating the efforts made by CAP, Chief Secretary issued instructions that the construction work of the Aroma Processing and Perfumery Lab should be done soon. He instructed that purchase of equipment required by the labs should be made on priority basis and to add more and more farmers for the cultivation of all aromatic crops. While inspecting a Perfumery Lab under construction at the CAP, he instructed the CAP scientists that in this lab, research work regarding Uttarakhand’s local aromatic weed should be done.
On this occasion, C. Ravi Shankar, Managing Director, SIIDCUL, suggested that an outlet of all products should also be prepared so that the visitors coming to the center could get all the products at one place.
Dr. Narpinder Chauhan, Director of the Center informed the Chief Secretary about aromatic crops, such as Lemongrass, Citronella, Geranium, Mint, Tulsi, Damske Gulab etc besides distillation plant, polyhouse and greenhouse. Subsequently, information about processing of all products such as Bhanjira, Tejpat in the Super Critical Fluid Extraction Unit, established in the newly built Aroma Processing Center was given.
On this occasion Dr. Hema Lohani, senior scientist, Dr. Sunil Sah, Scientist C, RK Yadav, Scientist ‘B’, Dr. S. Zafar Haider, Scientist and other CAP personnel were present.
