Dehradun, 21 Apr: A grand programme was held, today, at the closing ceremony of an 8-day music and dance workshop for SC/ST, minorities and poor children and women by Mala’s World (School of Dance, Music and Yoga) sponsored by the Department of Culture, Uttarakhand, at the Clement Town Skill Centre, in which the children what they had learned at the workshop.
The Chief Guest was senior politician Vivekanand Khanduri, who along with Vijay Lumar and President of the Society, Sudesh Malhotra, lit the ceremonial lamp to the strains of “O Sharde Maa” by Chanchal, Vandana, and Gulfaraz.
Later Vandana, Jyoti, Bhavisya and Sandeep performed ato “Nani teri morni…”. Ratanjyoti and Devaki received accolades for a Krishna Yashoda dance recital. Priyanka and Dev performed on the harmonium, while Reena sang “suno gaur se duniya….”. Pankaj, Khushi, Vandana, Pooja, Ayesha, Priyank performed “sargam ki baarat…”. Chanchal, Gulfaraz executed a dance on “Fyonladiya tvain dekhi…, a Garhwali folk song. Punjabi folk song “Long Laichi was performed by Tamanna, Kareena, Saira, Komal and Sabina. “Juti Patiala Di” was presented by Komal.
The Chief Guest along with other guests and presented certificates to the participants.
On this occasion, Sudesh Malhotra, President of Mala World Society, Vice President Sushma Agarwal, Secretary Mala Maithani, Treasurer Amita, Patron Mahitosh and other office bearers were present. The parents of the participants along with other viewers were present in large number.
