Nainital, 27 Nov: Taking serious note of the intensifying cold conditions during his visit to Nainital, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today directed the officials across the state to reinforce essential amenities in Rain Baseras (Night Shelters) and arrange bonfires at public places to counter the cold wave. He instructed all the District Magistrates to ensure that requisite facilities, including quilts and blankets, are adequately provided in night shelters and emphasised distribution of blankets to the needy to safeguard them from the biting cold.

The CM further directed the officials to activate teams in every district for effective monitoring in cities, towns and major public areas so that timely relief can be extended to the helpless and the homeless. Dhami asserted that the government aims to ensure that no one suffers due to severe cold conditions. He also asked the officials to regularly light bonfires in urban areas and towns, particularly during the evenings when the cold becomes more acute and to maintain regular monitoring of these arrangements. Additionally, he instructed the administration to furnish a daily report on the availability, distribution, and monitoring of essential relief materials for the poor and the homeless.
