Dhami witnesses Badminton Final at National Games, honours players

Dehradun, 4 Feb: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami witnessed the finals of the badminton competition under the 38th National Games-2025 at Parade Ground, here today, where he also honoured the winning players with medals and interacted with athletes from across the country.

In the Men’s Singles Badminton final, Satish Kumar of Tamil Nadu defeated Suryansh Rawat of Uttarakhand. The Chief Minister presented Satish Kumar with a gold medal and awarded Suryansh Rawat the silver medal for his impressive performance.

On this occasion, Dhami also engaged with players from different states, seeking to know about their experiences at the National Games and receiving praise for Uttarakhand’s natural beauty and hospitality. Players and volunteers enthusiastically welcomed his presence, expressing their happiness at his visit.

The CM described the hosting of the 38th National Games as a moment of pride for Uttarakhand, stating that the state will now be recognised as “Khel Bhoomi” along with Dev Bhoomi. He highlighted the development of sports infrastructure, including new stadiums and facilities that would benefit future athletes.

Urging citizens to support and encourage players, he stressed on the importance of greater participation of youth in sports and noted that the Games are introducing athletes to Uttarakhand’s rich cultural heritage, traditional folk art, and cuisine.

The event was also attended by MLA Khajan Das, Infrastructure Monitoring Council Vice President Vishwas Dawar, Principal Secretary RK Sudhanshu, Special Principal Secretary for Sports Amit Sinha, and other dignitaries.
