DIS students briefed on ‘Women in Aviation’

DEHRADUN, 24 Nov: NGO ‘Women in Aviation’ (WIA) organised an induction session followed by a hot air balloon ride for girl students, here, today. Girl students of Doon International School marked their presence in large numbers. The Founder Member of ‘Women in Aviation’, Capt Shweta Singh, addressed the girl students and gave them a brief on the opportunities in the world of aviation and cargo. The girls were also presented with a kit and t shirt, each. The session was organised to bridge the gap of ignorance and apprise the girls with the scope in the field of aviation in the presence of Director, Doon International School, DS Mann. Capt Shweta Singh stated, “Women are the future of the aviation industry. They still constitute a minority in the workforce. The government too is providing full support for education, skill development and career growth of women in aviation.” Addressing the students, she added, “Women have huge career prospects in the field. The can opt to be pilots, aircraft engineers, technicians, administrative support personnel, flight attendants, flight dispatchers, aviation meteorologists, aviation doctors, agents, aviation attorneys, psychologists, food services personnel, helicopter pilots and undertake cargo jobs to name a few.” The President, Women in Aviation, Radha Bhatia added, “WIA seeks to ensure that the requirements in the sector are met appropriately with trained manpower.” The hot air balloon festival is being held by Saviya Aviation Private Limited with support of the Uttarakhand Government. Shubh Saxena and Rashika were also present on the occasion.
