Discussion on Metal Corrosion Techniques at Graphic Era

Dehradun, 30 Aug: Experts at Graphic Era shared insights on everything from the basic principles of metal corrosion to advanced analysis. On the sixth day of the FDP, the evaluation of corrosion efficiency in oil and gas pipelines was the main topic of discussion.
Today, at the valedictory ceremony of the national FDP held at Graphic Era Deemed University, Vice Chancellor Dr Narinder Singh, addressing as the chief guest, said that the importance of a subject like metal corrosion is not limited to academic research but has vast applications in the industrial sector. He added that with the advent of new technologies, immense opportunities have opened in this field, and industries need trained researchers and teachers who can work with a modern outlook and scientific understanding.
On this occasion, Senior Scientist Dr Aseesh Kumar of CSIR-IIP Dehradun said that evaluating corrosion efficiency in oil and gas pipelines is not just a technical requirement but also essential for energy security and industrial growth. Through his presentation, he highlighted the significance of modern coating techniques, cathodic protection systems, and AI-based monitoring.
During this week-long FDP, a variety of online and offline sessions were organized on different topics. Various workshops were also conducted, which provided participants with the latest perspectives and practical experience. Participants joined both in-person and virtually.
This FDP was organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Department of Physics of Graphic Era Deemed University. The program was coordinated by Dr Gopal Sharma and Dr Manvendra Kumar Singh. On this occasion, Head of Department Dr Kapil Kumar Sharma (Mechanical Engineering), Head of Department Dr Fateh Singh Gill (Physics), along with Dr Deshbandhu Singh, Dr Kiran Sharma, other faculty members, and students were present.
