Dehradun, 31 Jul: District Magistrate Dr R Rajesh Kumar, conducted a surprise inspection of Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) here this afternoon. It may be recalled that ever since taking over as DM, Rajesh Kumar has been regularly conducting surprise inspection of various offices and institutions in the district. During the inspection today, he took stock of the arrangements and facilities at the ISBT. He also took stock of arrangements for sampling points for Covid-testing, sanitation, compliance towards wearing of masks and social distancing made at various places within the ISBT premises. He issued a warning to the people walking without masks and directed them to wear masks.
During the inspection, the District Magistrate noticed that many people were roaming without masks and therefore asked the ISBT outpost in-charge, bus stand managers and other personnel, to inspect from time to time during the day whether Covid protocols were being complied with or not and he directed them to penalise those who were found not following the protocols such as social distancing wearing masks.
He instructed the teams collecting samples at the sampling points to note down the complete address and mandatory travel details along with taking the samples of every person coming to the ISBT. He asked the people coming to the sampling point to cooperate with the ISBT police post while giving samples by making a queue with social distancing as well and wearing masks while in queue. He also asked the paramedical staff of the pathology lab assigned the responsibility of collecting samples at ISBT to keep a thermal scanner to check temperature of the people during the sampling work and inform the health department of any ill person or a person with any Covid symptoms.
Expressing displeasure over the lack of adequate sanitation in the toilets during the inspection, the District Magistrate directed the ISBT management of Ramky company to ensure immediate improvement in it. During the inspection, the District Magistrate found that most of the roadways buses did not have First Aid boxes, on which he expressed his dissatisfaction and directed the personnel present on the spot that all buses have first aid boxes.
