Doon School, Asian School win ties in 5th Col Shashi Memorial Cricket Tournament

Dehradun, 19 Apr: In the Col Shashi Memorial Cricket Tournament for Under-14, which is affiliated to the Schools’ Cricket Federation of India, the first match of the day was played between The Aryan School (AS) and Pestle Weed College (PWC). AS won the toss and opted to field first. Muntazir and Vaibhav opened the innings but Vaibhav couldn’t survive for long and was bowled by Abhay for naught. Shamsher show edsome resistance and made 19, hitting three fours and a six. Ravi made 6, Shubham 5, Abhishek and Muntazir, 4. There were 18 given away as extras by Aryan School. PWC was all out for 58 runs in 11 overs. Chinmay and Shreyansh took 3 wickets, each, for 11 and 21 runs. Abhay took one wicket.
Chasing a modest total of 58 runs, Aryan batsmen were little troubled by the bowlers. Rudraksh made a quick 21 facing just 7 balls out of which four were sent to the boundaries. He was caught by Shibham to the bowling of Arsh. Abhay and Chinmay remained not out with 11 and 9 runs, respectively. Aryan met the target in just three overs contributing 18 as extras.
Aryan School won the match by 9 wickets.
The second match was played between St Thomas’ College (STC) and The Doon School (DS). St Thomas’ won the toss and opted to bat first. Aryan and Priyanshu opened the innings. Both the batsmen comfortably took on the bowlers and contributed 26 runs for the opening wicket in 7.1overs when Priyanshu mistimed the shot and was caught by Viraj to the bowing of Guru. Aryan carried on his innings with confidence. Aryan made a well deserved 33 in 32 balls when he had hit in four fours and a six. Later, STC lost wickets on a regular basis except Pranjal and Vivanshu who were not out on 12 and 15, respectively. STC made 93 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Advik of Doon School took 3 for 5, Guru and Tamish took two wickets, each, for 16 and 27, respectively and Vihaan got one wicket.
Viraj and Tamish opened the innings for DS, but Viraj wasn’t comfortable from the beginning. He was bowled by Priyanshu for just two, but Tamish was quite confident throughout his innings. Priyanshu a made well deserved 36 facing 31 balls. Ranshere didn’t last for a long period. He was caught and bowled. Later, Yuval scored 17 and Siddhant remained not out on 20.
Doon School met the target in the 18th over with six wickets to spare.
