Dehradun, 24 Sep: The Annual General Meeting of Doon Citizens’ Council was held at Hotel Madhuban, here, to elect the new Office-Bearers for the two-year term 2024-26. Dr DS Mann was elected the President, while Dr S Farooq was elected the Secretary General. SS Goyal was elected the Senior Vice President, Dr RK Bakshi, the Vice President, Naveen Kumar Gupta, Treasurer, and PK Kapoor, the Secretary.
The members elected Manu Kochhar, Dr Aditya Arya, Anamika Jindal, Dr Himmat Singh, Dr SL Gupta and Naresh Gupta to the Executive Committee. The immediate Past President, Brigadier KG Behl (Retd) along with the outgoing office-bearers congratulated the newly elected team.
Founded in the year 1995 by industrialist, the late MM Tayal, senior journalist Raj Kanwar, and hotelier SP Kochhar, Doon Citizen’s Council is a body of prominent citizens and philanthropists of Dehradun who work for social causes. The Council holds its annual Award’s Function to honour renowned personalities from Uttarakhand and India who have left their mark in various fields such as literature, arts, politics, journalism, All India Services, sports, business, etc.
Distinguished recipients of the Doon Citizens’ Council’s Pride of Nation Awards include former Chief Election Commissioner of India Dr SY Quraishi, CMD, ONGC, Sudhir Vasudeva, Industrialist Analjit Singh, Chairman of Hero Honda Group, Brijmohan Lall Munjal, DGP (R&D) Kiran Bedi, Chairman of Bajaj Auto Ltd, Rahul Bajaj, Chairman of JAYPEE Group, Jai Prakash Gaur, Actress & Social Activist Shabana Azmi, eminent media person Subhash Chandra, General VP Malik, legendary Cricketer Sunil Gavaskar, eminent jurist Nani A Palkiwala, Chief Election Commissioner TN Seshan, etc.
