Harsil, (Uttarkashi), 24 Sept: During a two-day visit to the border area of the ‘Vibrant Village,’ Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) met with soldiers at a military conference in Harsil. He also visited the soldiers of the Army and ITBP in Nelang and Jadung, praising their contributions to national security and sharing numerous anecdotes from military life to boost the morale of those stationed at border outposts. The Governor presented sweets and other gifts to the soldiers.
Upon arrival at the Harsil Army helipad, Lt Gen Singh was welcomed by the District Magistrate, along with administrative, police, and army officials. After a guard of honor by police personnel, he addressed the soldiers of the Rajputana Rifles and ITBP. The Governor expressed pride in being connected to the exceptional tradition of the Indian Army, emphasizing that soldiers have demonstrated remarkable valor and dedication in every challenge and have made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation.
Following Harsil, the Governor visited Nelang and Jadung, where he met and addressed the soldiers, stating that the nation feels secure due to the relentless efforts of these brave warriors. He extended his best wishes for their military service and personal lives, highlighting that the country will always be indebted to them.
Also present during the visit were District Magistrate Dr Meharban Singh Bisht, Superintendent of Police Amit Srivastava, the Governor’s aides Amit Sahay, Major Sumit Kumar, Colonel Satendra Singh of the Rajputana Rifles, ITBP Commandant Sachin, and Chief Development Officer SL Semwal, along with other officials.
