Dehradun, 24 Sep: Uttarakhand Police has been sanctioned an amount of Rs 65.38 crores from the Union Government under the Special Assistance Scheme for State Capital Investment (SASCI) 2024-25. The amount has been sanctioned after Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Director General of Police (DGP) Abhinav Kumar raised the issue with the Centre.
The state police claim that continuous efforts are being made by the Chief Minister to technically and financially boost the functionality and efficiency of Uttarakhand Police. The CM and the DGP have expressed their commitment also to augmenting facilities including residential facilities for the police personnel. The Centre’s approval of an amount of Rs 65.38 crores under the SASCI has been granted for two major construction projects related to the state police. An amount of Rs 28.09 crores has been sanctioned for construction of 156 residential buildings in the state, while the remaining amount of Rs 37.29 crores has been sanctioned for the construction of administrative buildings of 6 police stations and 14 police chowkis (outposts).
Commenting on this sanction by the Centre under SASCI, DGP Abhinav Kumar observed that these important construction projects would definitely strengthen the law and order of the state and establish new dimensions of success. He added that the buildings to be constructed under these projects will provide a better working environment to the police personnel, which will significantly increase their efficiency and morale. This will also have a positive impact on the quality of police services in public interest, he felt.
Upon this sanction by the Union Home Ministry, Chief Minister Dhami and DGP Kumar have expressed their gratitude to the Central Government for this important investment in infrastructure, giving priority to public safety. They also felt that with this Centre-State cooperation, another big step has been taken towards making the Uttarakhand Police stronger and more effective.
