Garhwal Post Bureau

Dehradun, 14 May: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami handed over appointment letters to 307 newly selected candidates at his Camp Office here today. Those given appointment letters include 243 medical officers, 42 pharmacists and 22 laboratory assistants under the health departments, and mushroom supervisors under the horticulture department. Extending his best wishes to the freshly appointed on this occasion, the CM asserted that these appointment letters are not merely documents of employment but pledges of service to the 1.25 crore people of the state.

Dhami emphasised that, in a geographically challenging state like Uttarakhand, the role of health workers is crucial as they are the first hope of the people in remote and hill areas during times of crisis. He urged the newly appointed medical officers and health staff to discharge their duties with sensitivity, dedication and a spirit of service.

The CM asserted that, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state government is continuously working to strengthen health services. Through the Ayushman scheme, lakhs of families are receiving treatment benefits. More than 62 lakh Ayushman cards have been distributed and nearly 12 lakh patients have availed cashless treatment worth over Rs 2200 crores. He added that medical colleges are being rapidly built and operated to expand health facilities. At present, five medical colleges are functional in the state while two are under construction. Alongside, nine nursing colleges and three nursing schools are operational. Super-speciality facilities are being expanded in Dehradun, Haldwani and Srinagar medical colleges, and a modern cancer institute is coming up in Haldwani. Telemedicine and heli-ambulance services are also being run to provide better health care in remote areas.

Dhami further said that the government is committed to giving new direction to agriculture and horticulture. High-value crops such as kiwi, dragon fruit, high-density apple, mushroom cultivation and beekeeping are being promoted to enhance farmers’ income. He expressed hope that the newly appointed youth will play a vital role in giving the state a new identity in agricultural innovation and modern horticulture. He reiterated that all recruitment processes in the state are being conducted with complete transparency. The strictest anti-cheating law in the country has been implemented here, as a result of which more than 32,000 youth have secured government jobs in the past four and a half years.

Addressing the gathering, Health Minister Subodh Uniyal said that the appointment of new doctors and pharmacists will help in improving health services in the state. He stressed that the government’s effort is to ensure adequate availability of doctors even in remote areas so that people can access health services close to their homes. He expressed confidence that all doctors will remain dedicated to public service with full commitment.

Agriculture and Horticulture Minister Ganesh Joshi said that, under the leadership of CM Dhami, the horticulture department is successfully running various schemes such as intensive apple cultivation, kiwi mission, dragon fruit mission, beekeeping policy and the JICA project. He highlighted the immense potential for mushroom production in Uttarakhand, which can emerge as an additional source of income for farmers, thereby strengthening their economic condition and improving their social and financial status.

Among those present on the occasion were Cabinet Minister Khajan Das, Raipur MLA Umesh Sharma Kau, Dehradun Cantt MLA Savita Kapoor, Mayor, Dehradun, Saurabh Thapliyal, Secretaries Sachin Kurve and Dr SN Pandey and other senior officers from related departments.
