Dehradun, 14 Jan: The land and property grab cases are continuing in Dehradun despite the Uttarakhand Government claims of taking strong action to stop them.

In one more case, the Police on Sunday said some properties in Jakhan area belonging to an elderly woman were allegedly sold by showing her on paper to be dead.

A case has been registered under sections 420, 467, 468 and 471 of the IPC at the Rajpur police station on a complaint filed by one Vishal Thapa, SHO Jitendra Chauhan said. “At this point we can only say that the matter is under investigation,” said Chauhan.

In the complaint, Vishal Thapa has alleged that her mother Shila Thapa’s properties in Jakhan locality were sold by her relatives by making a fake will. Thapa alleged that her mother’s shops were sold to Shalini Shahi and Amitabh Shahi by making false sale deed documents. The accused persons claimed in the false documents that Shila Thapa had died in 1977. On the other hand, Shila Thapa is still alive, Chauhan said.

Last year, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had made a surprise inspection of the registry office in Dehradun and issued strong instructions to the district administration to stop any forgery of land records in the office at the District Collectorate. Dhami had made it clear that strict action would be taken against all those people who are grabbing properties by forging official records.

An inquiry has revealed that some land grabbers colluding with the government officials and advocates have been forging records at the registry office. Some arrests have also been made in this regard.
