Dehradun, 1 Jul: In an attempt to boost the tourism sector in Uttarakhand, the state government has opened up the famous tourist spots in the state. However, keeping the health and safety of all stakeholders as the utmost priority, the tourists wishing to visit the state will have to submit a negative RT-PCR report and abide by all the COVID-19 protocols put in place across the state.
The decision has not only enthralled the tourists across the country but has also delighted the businesspersons associated with tourism.
Among many popular places, the Valley of Flowers, situated at an altitude of 12995 feet above sea level in Chamoli district, and Jim Corbett Park, India’s oldest national park located in Nainital district, are the key attractions for the tourists.
Presently, more than 50 species of flowers are blooming in the valley. The Valley of Flowers National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the two main areas of the Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve. The place offers an ethereal view of exotic flowers like Orchids, Poppies, Primulas, Marigolds, Daisies, and Anemones. It is believed that in the Ramayana period, Hanuman came to this valley in search of the Sanjeevani herb. The months of July, August, and September are considered the best to visit the Valley of Flowers. Mountain ranges and beautiful glaciers surround the valley and this area remains a centre of attraction for its medicinal flora, and fauna. When the rainy season starts, the valley becomes a picturesque place with flowers and the whole place glows like a colourful palette. This divine place is also home to some rare and endangered creatures. The journey to the Valley of Flowers is a zig-zag trail of 16 kms, during which the tourist moves ahead while looking at the beauty of nature, making the journey easy.
Located in the foothills of the Himalayas, the Corbett National Park is spread over an area of 521 sq km in two districts; a major part of the park covers an area of 312.86 sq km in Pauri Garhwal district and the remaining 208.14 sq km in Nainital district. Jim Corbett National Park is a perfect destination for wildlife lovers as well as nature lovers. Every year, lakhs of tourists from all over the country and the world come here to enjoy the jungle safari. Talking about animals, apart from tigers, many animals like elephants, Chital, Sambhar, Nilgai, Gharial, King cobra, Wild boar, Spiny wild rat, fox, and Indian chameleon are found in Jim Corbett. Apart from this, more than 600 species of birds are also present here.
