CM reviews progress of Industries Dept

Dehradun, 4 Jan: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami chaired a review meeting of the Industries Department at the Secretariat here today. During the meeting, the CM directed the officials to speed up the grounding work on the agreements signed under the Destination Uttarakhand Investors Summit held here recently. The Chief Minister said that connecting the youth of the state with employment and self-employment opportunities is the top priority of the state government. He also gave instructions to provide complete details in their presentations regarding the work done by the related departments for the grounding of the MoUs signed under Destination Uttarakhand. He said that employment fairs should also be organised regularly so that the youth can get maximum employment opportunities in industrial institutions.
Dhami also asserted that proposals on new policies to promote industries and policies that require amendments should be brought up soon before the government. He asked the officials to take all actions at the state level for construction of the Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Park, the Electronics Park to be constructed in Kashipur and the Plastic Park to be built in Sitarganj. Also, to formulate a new IT policy soon with the aim of promoting employment in the state in the IT sector. Along with creating a dedicated cell for export promotion, the CM sought immediate action for the establishment of convention centres in Dehradun and Rishikesh.
It was stated at the meeting that against the target of grounding investment worth Rs 13,640 crores for the financial year 2023-24, an investment of Rs 28,800 crores has been grounded by the Industries Department, so far. There has been a 250 percent increase in investment grounding in this financial year. The target is to further ground more investment proposals worth Rs 17, 200 crores by March 2024. It was also claimed by the officials that the target of creating 46 thousand jobs has also been completed. As many as 215 units have been registered in the state under micro, small and medium industries. These include 5 gold, 5 silver and 205 bronze certifications. A land bank of 6180 acres has been created in the state. Among the projects on which work is underway are the construction of Aroma Park Kashipur, Plastic Park Sitarganj, Electronics Park, Kashipur, and Food Park, Kotdwar. Along with this, a flatted factory of 5 lakh square feet will be constructed in Haridwar at a cost of Rs 200 crores and a building for rent base accommodation in Pantnagar and Haridwar will be constructed on 2 acres land at a cost of Rs 60 crores. Many facilities are being provided by the Industries Department for the convenience of investors, it was claimed.
On this occasion, CM Dhami was also handed over the shield and certificate of the second award given at the national level under ODOP to the state by Secretary, Industries, Vinay Shankar Pandey.
Additional Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, Secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram, Director General, Industries, Rohit Meena and other officers were present at the meeting.
