Dehradun, 30 Oct: Governor Dr. D. S. Bisen interacted with students from West Bengal on a visit to Uttarakhand under the ‘Yuva Sangam’ programme at Lok Bhawan on Friday. Welcoming the students to Uttarakhand, the Governor said that Yuva Sangam is not merely a journey but an opportunity to know and understand India and experience its diversity. Such programmes strengthen mutual understanding, mutual bonding and national unity among young people from different states.
The Governor said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’ is an important initiative to weave the country’s cultural diversity into the thread of unity. When students visit other states and gain first-hand knowledge of their languages, food habits, traditions and culture, they get an opportunity to experience India’s diversity firsthand. Such experiences further strengthen national integration.
The Governor urged the students to imbibe good values, maintain a positive outlook and always place national interest above everything else in life. He said that young people must uphold the spirit of ‘Nation First’. He added that even losing one’s way in life can sometimes become an opportunity to learn and understand oneself; however, what matters is returning to the right path and building one’s character through experience. He emphasised that good values, strong character and a positive attitude are essential for success in life.
The Governor said that the knowledge and skills of young people should benefit society and the nation. He urged them to utilise their knowledge to address the challenges faced by farmers, villages, the environment and underprivileged sections of society. He observed that young people have a significant role to play in achieving the goal of a Developed India. For building a self-reliant and developed India, it is essential that the youth are not only knowledgeable but also possess strong character, discipline and a sense of duty.
On the occasion, the Governor congratulated the coordinators, teachers, officials and organising team of Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur, for their significant contribution to organising the programme.
