Dehradun, 25 Aug: Governor Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd) on Monday visited the disaster-affected areas of Dharali and Mukhba in Uttarkashi district, where he met the affected families and reviewed the ground situation of relief and rescue operations.

At Mukhba, the Governor received a detailed briefing on the progress of disaster management, relief, and safety measures. He interacted with officials of the district administration, Army, NDRF, SDRF, and other security agencies regarding the ongoing relief and rescue efforts.

The Governor assured the families from Dharali, who have taken shelter in Mukhba, of all possible support and assistance. He emphasised that, in this hour of crisis, the State Government and the entire administration stand firmly with them. He directed the officials to prepare a concrete and long-term action plan for the assistance and rehabilitation of the affected families so that they can return to normal life at the earliest.

Appreciating the coordination among the district administration, Army, NDRF, SDRF, and other agencies working in the affected region, the Governor commended their dedication, hard work, and prompt action which accelerated the pace of relief and rescue operations. He made special mention of the soldiers of the 14 Rajputana Regiment, who despite being personally affected by the disaster, actively contributed to relief and rescue work. He described this as a true service to humanity and an inspiring example of courageous duty and commitment.
