Govt appoints 18 new Inspectors to strengthen drug control system

Dehradun, 4 Apr: The Uttarakhand government has issued appointment orders for 18 new Drug Inspector Grade-2 posts to enhance the drug administration and pharmaceutical monitoring system in the state. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Health Minister Dhan Singh Rawat have extended their best wishes to the newly appointed officers, urging them to serve with dedication and integrity in the public interest.

Health Secretary and Head, Food Safety and Drug Administration, Dr R Rajesh Kumar, shared that these appointments have been made through the Department of Medical Health and Medical Education and the Uttarakhand Public Service Commission. The selected officers have been placed on a two-year probation period and have been instructed to immediately assume charge at their designated locations.

Kumar asserted that this move would strengthen drug control across the state and ensure the availability of quality medicines to the public. The appointments will reinforce the monitoring of the pharmaceutical supply chain and enhance the effectiveness of the drug control system.

He added that with the deployment of new drug inspectors, strict measures will be taken against fake and illegal drug networks operating in Uttarakhand. He also insisted that the primary focus of the government is to prevent the circulation of substandard and unregulated medicines. Drug inspectors have been directed to conduct regular inspections of pharmaceutical vendors and companies in their respective areas and take prompt action against any violations.

To improve efficiency, drug inspectors will be integrated with modern technologies and digital monitoring systems, allowing real-time surveillance of the quality of medicines available in the market. He reiterated the government’s commitment to curbing the illegal sale of antibiotics, painkillers, and other controlled substances.

According to the official posting list, the newly appointed drug inspectors have been assigned to various districts, including Udham Singh Nagar, Dehradun, Chamoli, Nainital, Haridwar, Rudraprayag, Tehri, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Almora, Champawat and Uttarkashi. Officers posted at the FDA Headquarters will oversee central regulatory functions. As per the orders issued today, Nisha Rawat has been posted with FDA Dehradun and Nidhi Raturi in Dehradun.

The government has urged all appointed drug inspectors to take charge immediately to ensure smooth implementation of drug inspection and quality control processes across Uttarakhand.
