CM flags off joint expedition to Raktvan Glacier near Gangotri

Uttarkashi, 14 Sep: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today participated in a programme organised at Gangotri Dham, Uttarkashi. On this occasion he flagged off a joint mountaineering expedition of Patanjali Ayurved, Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM) and IMF. He also prayed for the prosperity of the state by offering prayers at Gangotri Dham and sought the blessings of Mother Ganga. The Chief Minister also joined a trekking team going to Raktvan Glacier and trekked for a distance of 1 kilometre.

At a function organised at Gangotri, the Chief Minister also administered an oath to the people present there on the cleanliness and continuous flow of the Ganga River. Dhami said that Patanjali Ayurved, NIM and IMF’s joint expedition would prove to be a milestone for the state of Uttarakhand and India and, through this trekking expedition, new herbs and medicinal plants could be discovered. This campaign would be of great help in the field of Ayurveda and the field of Herbal plants. He said that India had given to the whole world the knowledge of Yoga and Ayurveda.

Dhami said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the State Government has resolved to make Uttarakhand the cultural and spiritual capital of the world. The government is working hard to fulfill the resolution. This time 32 lakhs registered pilgrims had already travelled to Char Dham shrines and the journey is still going on smoothly and safely due to blessings of Mother Ganga and Baba Kedar. For the first time, the government had made a budget provision for the Kanwad Yatra and over 4 crores Kanwad pilgrims had visited the state during the season.

Yoga Guru Swami Ramdev said that Uttarakhand would become a spiritual and cultural capital under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. For Uttarakhand to lead the world in the field of Ayurveda, Patanjali is also working shoulder to shoulder with the government. It would invest more than Rs 1000 crores in the state, he claimed. He said that the development of a youthful state is better ensured under a young Chief Minister. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Dhami, the state of Uttarakhand would soon become first in the country to implement Uniform Civil Code.

Acharya Balkrishna said that, under this campaign, the goal was to connect nature with culture. He said that this campaign would be highly successful and hopefully some new herbs could be discovered during this trek and this would be followed by further research on the subject.

It is worth mentioning that the expedition of mountaineering and exploration in Raktavan Glacier area of ​​Gangotri is being done jointly by Nehru Mountaineering Institute, Uttarkashi and Patanjali Ayurved, Haridwar, and Indian Mountaineering Institute under the leadership of Acharya Balkrishna for 15 days. After independence, the work of exploration in this area was done in 1981 by Joint Indo-French Exploration Team. Despite the tireless efforts of this exploration team, that team was successful in visiting only half of the area planned for this trip. After this, till date no team has gone in search of vegetation in this area. This joint expedition will be carried out by Colonel Amit Bisht, Principal of the institute, besides two mountaineering instructors of the institute Deep Shahi, Vinod Gusain and Bihari Singh Rana (IMF Representative). With this, a 7-member team under the leadership of Acharya Balkrishna from Patanjali Yogpeeth, Haridwar, is also participating in this joint campaign. A joint survey of medicinal plants and mountaineering in the difficult and heterogeneous geographical area around Raktvan would be undertaken.

On this occasion, former public relations officerof the Chief Minister, Kishore Bhatt, District Magistrate Abhishek Ruhela, SP Arpan Yaduvanshi, District Panchayat President Deepak Bijalwan, Municipal President Ramesh Semwal, Additional District Magistrate Teerthpal Singh, SDM Chatar Singh Chauhan, Meenakshi Patwal, District President BJP Ramesh Chauhan, District General Secretary Harish Dangwal, Lokendra Bisht, Principal, NIM, Col Amit Bisht and President of Gangotri Temple Committee Harish Semwal were present.
