Govt will ensure strictest punishment in UKSSSC scam: Dhami

New Delhi, 10 Dec: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, participated in a programme conducted by a private news channel here today.  On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) was the need of the hour in Uttarakhand. BJP had made a promise to the people about this before the elections and soon after coming to power, the government constituted a committee to draft the UCC. He also asserted that the government has now brought a strict law against forced or enticed religious conversions in the state. Under this, provision of imprisonment up to 10 years has been made, he added.
Dhami claimed that every new initiative that is starting from Uttarakhand is being followed across the whole country. He added that a strong anti-conversion law is also the need of the hour.
Regarding the Uniform Civil Code, the Chief Minister said that it was not against anyone. In February this year, the government had expressed its resolve regarding this, and soon after forming the government again, constituted a committee in this respect. After this, various states across the country were coming forward on this and moving ahead.
The Chief Minister said that he got the responsibility of the Chief Minister only six months before the elections in Uttarakhand. The party gave this responsibility to a common man like him. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed confidence in him. As a result of this, the party was able to break the myth in Uttarakhand in respect of change of government every 5 years.
Dhami said that the Ankita Bhandari murder case was a heinous act. The government has ensured immediate action regarding this. All the accused were immediately arrested. A SIT was constituted under the leadership of a lady police officer. The Chief Minister said no laxity in this case would be tolerated and that the government would ensure strictest punishment to the culprits. The government was determined to take strictest action in the case.
Pushkar Singh Dhami said that recruitment scams were going on in the state since 2014 and 2015. Despite promises of investigation and action, no investigation was ever ordered in the past. However, the government led by him ordered a preliminary inquiry . Till today 55 people have gone to jail and the action would continue till the last person went to jail. The Chief Minister said that the government wished to draw such a line of action that no one could even think of such a thing in the future.
Dhami said, “This year, the Chardham Yatra was a big challenge. This time more than 46 lakh devotees came for the yatra. We are rapidly developing facilities in Chardham. There was a lot of damage in Kedarnath in the disaster of 2013. But now everything has changed due to the work going on under the able guidance of the Prime Minister. Work on the master plan is also going on in Badrinath. A target has been set up to complete both the works by December 2023”.
The Chief Minister said that in the coming time, people would be able to reach Dehradun from Delhi in two hours and the work on this elevated road was rapidly progressing. He said that according to the statement of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the third decade of the 21st century would belong to Uttarakhand. The state government is making all out efforts to realise this goal with the help of the Centre.  He also remembered late General Bipin Rawat in the programme and referred to him as a guardian for him. He had many dreams regarding Uttarakhand, which the government was committed to fulfil. He said that the foundation stone of the ropeway for Kedarnath and Hemkund has been laid by the Prime Minister. In the coming days, both these journeys would become easier for the devotees. The Chief Minister said that by the year 2025, the government was determined to ensure that Uttarakhand becomes a leading state in the country. He also claimed that there was enthusiasm among the youth regarding the Agnipath scheme.
